I had heard and my gurus told me that God first made man and then when he saw man lonely, he plucked a rib from the side of the man and created a woman and all was well with the man and the woman till they committed sin - ALI PETER JOHN

But no one and no guru has ever told me when the institution called marriage was created. I'm still looking to find the meaning of divorce, but the cases of divorce keep increasing, especially in this good, bad, sad and mad world of cinema.

We have been seeing the kind of season of divorces in recent years and it is not a very happy experience to be proud of.

A divorce coming after a couple spending years of being together and then suddenly one day deciding that they were not made for each other and going in for a separation and a divorce is something I have not been able to comprehend in all my seven decades of existence on this planet.

Let me leave the details about wat a divorce can means to the social scientist, psychologist and physiatric and rather concentrate on some recent heart-breaking divorces.

It was "Mr perfectionist" Amir Khan who set the trend of divorces when he divorced Reena Dutta who he was in love with for 16 years and divorced her, leaving her and their two children, Ira and Junaid to hend for themselves.

Mr Perfectionist then married his assistant Kiran Rao and they had a son who they named Azad Rao Khan. Again, it looked like a happy marriage and they were even working together in the making of Lal Sing Chhada, a very ambitious film based on the Hollywood film Forrest Gump" starring Tom Cruise.

It was in July last year that Amir and Kiran easily issued a statement saying that they would not be husband and wife, but they would live separately and co-parent their son and that they would complete the making of Lal Singh Chadda.

They have now gone their own ways, but come together for their son and for the making of their film.

In the meanwhile, there are very strong rumors about the good gentleman Amir Khan having a relationship with his Dangal actress Fatima Sana Shaikh. Ab iss rishta ka anjaam kya hoga, khuda bhi nahin janata hoga.

Arjun Rampal who had married his modeling partner Meher and who was the father of two pretty girls also got divorced after 14 years of marriage and there are many wild and not ao wild stories about why they got divorced.

The most handsome actor and star Hrithik Roshan had an affair with his school days friend Suzanne, the daughter of the veteran actor Sanjay Khan.

They had 2 sons, Hridaan and Hrihaan. It was a perfect family, till there were rumors about Hritik having an affair with Kangana Ranavat and the love story of 18 years was on the rocks and ended on the benches of the Family Court in Bandra.

And only recently the gossip mills were working overtime to spread stories about Hritik having something romantic to do with an upcoming actress called Saba Azad. Will this story take any proper shape in society?

The last 2 months have seen 2 major stories of separation in the south. The popular star Dhanush and Rajnikant's daughter Aishwarya who were married for 14 years ..shocked the whole of Chennai and the country when they announced their decision to separate.

And all the attempts made by Rajnikant to bring them together seems to have failed and Aishwarya has made it clear that there are no chances of their coming together again.

In Mumbai there is the story of Nitish Bharadwaj who played Krishna in Mahabharat. He first married Sonali Patil, the daughter of the popular editor Mrs. Vimla Patil and the marriage ended in divorce after they had 2 children. Nitish then married Smita and they were parents of twins, but this marriage too failed.

And once again in the South, 2 popular stars, Sreeja and Kalyan have also taken the decision to separate...

And the most classic case of divorce is the one of Kamal Haasan. Kamal first married a well-known dancer Vani Ganpati who had acted in 2 films.

But the marriage broke up within months. Kamal then fell for the beautiful actress Sarika and married her only after they had 2 daughters who are now leading actresses, Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan.

Sarika, it is said walked out from the Palace of Kamal and came back to Bombay after 15 years and started her career in acting with Parzanmia for which she got the National award.

Sarika is living a secluded life in Mumbai and no one knows where she is. Kamal had his third affair with love when he had a live in relationship with a rising star called Gowthami, which also ended soon and the actor who is now nearing 70.. is involved an aspiring actress from Mumbai.

There are many other stories about men and women from the industry planning to have a divorce or have already been divorced secretly. Why have young people decided to take marriage lightly and divorce and separation more seriously.

Who will provide the answers to this question because the answers could save society from going down the drains because marriage whatever some people may say or believe in, is the foundation of a society, a country, and even the world.

It is a scene outside the building where Amir Khan lives in Bandra and with him his Kiran Rao and they had together announced their separation some months ago.

There is some hesitation between the two who were lovers and a couple just about a year ago. Amir and Kiran³ who are still the producers of Lal Singh Chadda, have just finished the days' work.

They smiled and keep smiling at each other and finally they hug each other and leave in their own cars.

Kiran is seen graying, but Amir is still has fit as ever. The two cars are silent witnesses to this scene of two persons who loved each other so much and now seem to have forgotten that they were ever in love.

What must have been the thoughts in the mind of Amir and Kiran Rao on that evening when the wind was blowing so wildly..?
