Sweta Basu Prasad is known for her films Iqbal and Makadee just refreshing our memories she updates us, “About south films- I did a couple of films down in South while in college. After I did film,” Iqbal” I was merely, 15 years old. My parents stopped me completely from acting. They wanted me to graduate first. Then after studies they wanted me to either do overseas job acting or whatever I would like to take up professionally.”
Adding further feeling thankful to her parents she says,’ Because they wanted me to have a normal child hood they wanted my privacy and education to be foremost importance I really respect that .there are many child actors who do not get that opportunity.”
Having directed a documentary and worked in South films this little girl smartly saved her money for a "Documentary ,” ‘I did a couple of South films. I saved some money which I did not spend on parties and travelling. This money that I had as my savings was used for the production work of my Documentary titled ,’Roots’ which was researched, produced and directed by me. This documentary got licensed on the Netflix and can be found on Google which has interviews of A.R.Rahman,Amjad Ali Khan ,Vishal Bhardawaj PT.Jasraj and Shubha Mudgal.”
Adding more she says,” I am lucky I got offers from Phanthom films and also a few television shows. All these films Iqbal & Makadee and now Tashkent came my way. I am lucky that I did not have to beg. Now since I have been acting fro my early childhood days …acting is my calling and I am to e the part of Tashkent Files.’
Explaining her character in Tashkent files Sweta feels slowly and gradually she got emotionally invested in this character and wanted to find out the reason of Late Shri Lal Bhadhur Shahstri’s death,” I play the character of an aggressive journalist who is always keen to get more of eye ball grapping & scandalizing kind of reports.

Adding further,” But playing this character in the film she gets more emotionally invested takes this subject seriously and feel the right to know the truth, how things are brushed under carpet. Representing the fourth pillar also as youth who look for truth seeking answers to their weird qurries. The character and the story line is amazingly sensitive and is set in consumable environment, this happened 53 years ago.”
Working with Naseerud din Shah I shared a great rapport. My first film with Naseer uncle was Makadee. And Tashkent Files is my third film with him. I regularly watch his plays meet him often, not that I meet him every day for lunch.
Lastly Sweta feels ,’ It will be a victory of the team of Tashkent files if at all authorities pass orders to re-open the death mystery of late Shri lal Bahadur Shahstri. As the mystery still remains unsolved. Where is the postmortem report?
The Tashkent Files is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language thriller film about the death of former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The film has been written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and it stars Naseeruddin Shah & Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi,Mandira Bedi and Sweta Basu.
