Ustad Amjad Ali Khan has performed around the world and earned the honours and respect of the audiences everywhere he has gone; and he has done a profound service, not only to Indian Classical music but also to the cause of International Understanding, through his unceasing labours in this regard. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the cities of Boston and Cambridge were both, proud and honoured, to greet Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and to have had the opportunity of hearing his music, Michael S. Dukakis, Governor of The Commonwealth of Massachusetts proclaimed April 20 in 1984 as The Amjad Ali Khan Day in The Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
