It was in 1987, the show captured audiences worldwide and drew crowds to a standstill. Streets were deserted and shops shut down, even politicians and ministers stopped work to go home and watch the series. Even audiences of Pakistan and China watched the iconic Ramayan series by Ramanand Sagar on their televisions.The sacred, and immortal creation of Ramayan by Sagar Arts had such a profound impact that it transgressed beyond the borders of India, making the world a Ramayana-inspired place. Today, as the story of Ramayana is being retold as a film 'Adi Purush', it has sparked a sense of fury amongst every patriotic Indian who feels emotionally connected to it.

Some people believe that the controversial dialogues in the film, such as "Marega Beta", "Bua Ka Bagicha Hai Kya", and "Jalegi Tere Baap Ki", were intentionally added by the producers to create a stir and attract attention. However, they never realized that this uproar may have a reverse effect, with everyone associated with this film becoming its target. Speaking on this controversy, Dr. Ramanand Sagar's son, the renowned film and TV producer-director, Gold Medalist cinematographer Shri Prem Sagar said, "I neither watch nor will watch such films. I believe that the dialogue writers and makers of the film know about Ramayana and Hinduism very well. I do not understand how they could imagine such dialogues in the film."

It's possible that they may have a misunderstanding that the current generation will enjoy this kind of dialogue. This could be a great misunderstanding. which is not appropriate to assume. We should understand that the current generation of youths are very knowledgeable and intelligent. They have the world at their fingertips. They can learn everything with just a click. They want to know every scripture, every mythological story, and every Veda in its true form in India or maybe they already know it. You can't make them foolish. You cannot present the holy Ramayana in a different light to attract audiences as have been done. Dialogues that are not true cannot be imposed. You can give it a different name and call it something other than Valmiki's Ramayana. If you are making a fantasy film, then go ahead, but if you are creating a Ramayana, you cannot hurt anyone's feelings. People view the Ramayana with reverence. I am not saying there is no room for some changes in creative art, but you cannot disregard someone else's beliefs.
My father, late Doctor Ramanand also brought about several artistic changes in various scenes of the Ramayana serial, but he did so after deep research and contemplation. He spent sleepless nights reading the Vedas and Puranas, and reciting them to perfection. He embellished the Ramayana in a way that left the audience emotionally overwhelmed.Prem Sagar also stated, "I have not watched the film Adipurush and have no intention of watching it. However, I have seen some clips and have spoken to people like Sunil Lahri (who played the role of Lakshman in Ramayan directed by Ramanand Sagar), and I understand that there are some controversies surrounding the film. I do not wish to watch such films" Prem Sagar further added, "Those who truly understand the Ramayana know that Ravana was a very wise man. The filmmakers cannot show the Golden Lanka as black Lanka or change the mythological appearance of the characters in the Ramayana. However, I am glad that the filmmakers have realized their mistake and this realization is a big thing. Now the question arises, why did this happen or why was it done, I do not know what happened this time. Deepika Chikhalia, the actress who played the role of Sita in the historic TV series, Ramayana, which achieved enormous success, said, "The damage has already been done. It is a matter of concern how the censor board approved such a film. I think people should now stop making remakes of the Ramayana."
