The movie 'Hellaro' tells the story of social, political, economic and cultural backwardness of women. The Gujarati word 'hellaro' means 'big wave'. This is the story of a village called Samarpura in the Kutch region of 1975. The reason behind the internal strife of women in this small settlement in the desert is, of course, the patriarchal mentality. The so-called masculinity of men who worship women as goddesses in this era, however, takes pleasure in oppressing women.
