In the history of Bollywood, many such personalities are born who become legends. Dev Anand is one of them who, with his timeless charm and timeless charisma, undoubtedly became an amazing, unimaginable legend. On his 100th birthday, the world is remembering him, his cult films are being re-screened in many theaters on this occasion. On his hundredth birth anniversary, many Bollywood celebrities are organizing various programs. Stamps bearing his image have now become a topic of much discussion. I too remember that incredible opportunity of meeting and interviewing this Bollywood legend in the nineties. An experience that is still imprinted in my memory. It was his birthday celebration, but he was shooting in Mehboob Studio. Actress Natasha Sinha also came to meet him.

As soon as I told him about being a reporter for Mayapuri magazine and requested an interview, he made me sit with Natasha and said, first interview her, till then I will be back. During that conversation, I became friends with Natasha. After some time Dev Saheb arrived and we all sat in his makeup room. It was raining outside. My umbrella was wet. Water was dripping from the umbrella and I asked Dev Saheb, where should I keep the umbrella? He pointed towards his son Sunil sitting on the set and I handed the umbrella to Sunil ji. At that time I could not help but feel awe at the simplicity of Dev Anand. Dev Anand, the debonair actor, director and producer, sat across me with such an aura of effortless elegance. His shining eyes still retained that unmistakable sparkle, which was proof of his unwavering passion for cinema.

I started a conversation with him about his journey in the film industry, to which he replied, “Cinema has been my first love, and I have cherished every moment of it. For me, cinema is not just a profession; it is my life. Cinema is my heart's call."  There was a strange enthusiasm in his voice that was an echo of his confidence and deep love for the silver screen.

Dev Anand's films were not just about entertainment, they reflected his enthusiasm for life. He himself said, "Every film I made, every character I played, was a turmoil of human emotions. Cinema, for me, was a medium to connect with simple and humble people's hearts." His genuine passion for storytelling was very clear.

We discussed his popular films in depth and he spoke fondly about classics like "The Guide" and "Jewel Thief." He said, "Each film has its own story of the journey and each film holds a special place in my heart. 'Guide' was more than just a film. It was a spiritual experience for me."

Dev Anand's life philosophy was as charming as his on-screen personality. "Life is an adventure and we have to face it laughing or crying," he said "and I have lived it to the fullest. I believe in staying true to yourself, taking risks and never losing that childlike innocence." There was a wonderful resonance in his words.

As the conversation progressed I couldn't help but admire the beauty of his English language pronunciation the humbleness in his personality and his dedication. Despite Dev Anand receiving so much praise from fans across the world, he has remained surprisingly down to earth. He commented, "Success is fleeting, but the love of the audience endures. I have always valued that kind of love above everything else."

Our conversation was not just about cinema. He was speaking about the harsh and bitter reality of life, the dreams dwelling in open eyes and the human spirit. Dev Anand's smile, his words and his emotions were infectious. “Age is just a number,” he said with a laugh, “I still have lots of stories to tell and lots of dreams to be fulfilled. ”

During our conversation, I asked him for a mantra to be given to the for upcoming actors and filmmakers. His response was simple but profound, he said, always listen to your heart, never compromise with your principles and always stay true to yourself. This is the key to a successful journey."

Dev Anand refused to talk about Suraiya but spoke extensively about his close relationship with Waheeda Rehman, whom he affectionately called "Wahidi".
He said that he used to call Waheeda Rehman "Wahidi", which was a symbol of love and proof of their close relationship.

Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman starred in "Guide" and "C.I.D." Acted together in many films. These films were not only commercially successful but were also critically acclaimed.
Dev Anand shared the story of convincing Waheeda Rehman to play the role of Rosie in

Guide, he said, "Waheeda was not agreeing at all because playing such a character was controversial at that time. The character of Rosie was a layered and complex character.

"Guide" features some of the most memorable songs in Bollywood history, composed by S.D. Burman.  Dev Anand's chemistry with Waheeda became famous in songs like "Piya Tose Naina Laage Re" and "Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai". Dev Saheb told me that this is his favorite song.

He remains a Bollywood historical inspiration to all who dare to dream and pursue all of them with unwavering passion. When I remember that interaction, I realize that a legend like Dev Anand is not bound by time. Legends are eternal, shining forever like stars in the vast cinematic universe.

His personality was far beyond mere acting. The experiences of life's joys and sorrows were visible from the window of his soul.
