What is the concept of the show Bhakharwadi?
It’s an interesting conflict between Anna, who is principled with traditional beliefs; and Mahendra, who believes in changing with time. Also, there is conflict within the Gokhale family between these rigid way of life and the new generation. However, all these conflicts are depicted in a very comical way and it is going to be very entertaining for the viewers. The show revolves around the relationships in a family and also between two families.
Please tell us something about your character- Jyotsna
Jyotsna is Anna’s wife. She respects him a lot despite of him being a little weird. My character is a very poised one but also good at maintaining relationships with the kids of today’s generation and everyone else in the house. Anna is of the thought that once he has broken ties with someone, there’s no mending. However, I and Abhishek are the people who take care of every relationship. Even though she is a very positive and simple character, Jyotsna never keeps quiet when Anna commits a mistake. She rebels at his mistakes and hence, is also a very strong character.
What made you take up this role?
The role itself! It is a very beautiful and sorted role. Also, the concept of having a drama on Sony SAB is very different and exciting. Hence, there was no chance that I would have said a no for this show and this role.
How has the experience been on the sets until now?
It has been terrific. Along with such an amazing role, people working along are just cherry on the top. I have previously done a show with Deven Bhojani on Sony SAB itself so I had that tuning with him. However, it is my first time working with majority of the other artists but we developed a good tuning at the first day itself and I am sure it is going to translate on screen. It feels great coming on the set and working together as everyone respects each other’s work and helps each other as well.
What are your expectations from the show? What will the audience like in Bhakharwadi?
The audience is going to love how relationships are portrayed in the show. Also, they will enjoy the fact that drama is shown in a comic way with Bhakharwadi.
Are there any similarities between your Jyotsna and Smita?
Not at all. I am not like Jyotsna at all and that’s the reason I am enjoying even more playing this role.
You have worked in some great Marathi shows. How different does it feel from Marathi industry to be working in Hindi industry?
I have actually worked previously in Hindi industry with Hatsoff productions itself. So, it doesn’t feel too different but I am enjoying a lot.
If you were a wife to such a principled husband in real life, how would you deal with it?
I don’t think I could have handled nicely. A person who is adamant but also very nice at heart, is a bit difficult to handle because you will then be in a dilemma of how to react.
What is your favourite character on the show?
Bharti and Amole. Their characters are so amazing and both of them are playing them beautifully as well.
Do you watch Sony SAB? What is your favourite show on the channel?
Yes. Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah is my all-time favourite show.
