The much awaited trailer of A R Murugadoss Darbar starring Rajinikanth is finally out. The makers released the trailer in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, just as the film will release in these three languages. Darbar is a cop action drama, where Suniel Shetty plays the main villain. "Actually, I don't like doing a cop role because it has too much responsibility attached to it. I like playing easy-going roles. But AR Murugadoss came with a very different story. It is not a regular cop character. It is very different. His visualization and imagination are very different," said Rajinikanth while talking about doing a cop film. Rajinikant endeared himself to the audiences by addressing the Mumbai media in not only English but also in Tamil, Marathi and Hindi. Incidentally, it is for the first time that Rajinikant is acting in a film which is directed by A. R. Murugadoss, who has earlier made films in Hindi like Ghajini with Aamir Khan and Holiday with Akshay Kumar

When we asked AR Murugadoss how he was able to persuade Rajinikanth to say yes and be a part of the film Darbar as the leading man, Murugadoss said that Rajinikanth agreed because of the character. “The script is very emotional and has Thalaiva's mass elements and has a role which is tailor made to suit Rajinikant to the T”."The hand of God was on me and that hand is of his (Rajinikanth). I was scared, nervous as well as excited because I didn't know what to do, but he makes you so comfortable that it's unbelievable. He is one person who is so simple, and that's why I consider him God. We all keep learning from him because we all emulate him," added Suniel Shetty.

Talking about the clash with other Hindi films, Shibasish of Reliance Entertainment said, "Good films, content and Rajini sir will pull the audience. We are confident that between Tamil, Telugu and Hindi we will be able to get at least 2000 screens to showcase our film Darbar on January 10." Darbar, by the way, will clash with films like Tanaji The Unknown Warrior starring Ajay Devgn and Chhapaak starring Deepika Padukone. Looks like the producers of Darbar have not learnt a lesson from the colossal flopping of his last outing in Telugu-Petta starring Rajinikant and Nawazuddin Siddiqui because they made the mistake iof clashing the film with Ram Charan’s Vinaya Vidheya Rama, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s NTR: Kathanayakudu and Venkatesh-Varun Tej’s multi-starrer F2: Fun and Frustration at the bnox office by releasing it on the same day. Also clashing with Rajinikant’s Darbar in Andhera Pradesh and Telengana on January 10 will be the Mahesh Babu starrer Sarileru Neekevvaru and the Allu Arjun starrer Ala Vaikunthapuramulo. Also present at the launch at PVR, Juhu were Prateik Babbar, music director Anirudh, Singers - Armaan Malik, Nakash Aziz and Raftaar, Raqueeb Alam(Lyricist) and Santhosh Sivan (DOP). The film is produced by Lyca Productions and presented by Reliance Entertainment.
