Despite being one of the biggest and most successful actors of his generation, he is one star who devotes himself completely to his craft and leaves no stone unturned when it comes to doing his own stunts in his films. Tom Cruise's ultra dedication to his roles might've landed him up in trouble!
While shooting for the next instalment of the Mission Impossible series in London, the actor slammed into a wall while jumping between buildings. The accident left him limping and thus stalling the shoot of the film. According to MI6 director Christopher McQuarrie, Cruise didn't miss the mark and was always supposed to hit the wall. However, on the fourth take, Cruise hit at a slightly different angle and broke his ankle.
The studio at the helm of operations Paramount gave an official statement which quoted, “During production on the latest Mission: Impossible film, Tom Cruise broke his ankle while performing a stunt. Production will go on hiatus while Tom makes a full recovery, and the film remains on schedule to open July 27, 2018. Tom wants to thank you all for your concern and support and can’t wait to share the film with everyone next summer.”
The accident took place on the roof of Baynard House, an office block in the Blackfriars district of London. Sources say this was the 88th day of the Mission: Impossible 6 shoot, which was due to carry on for another two months into October.
The superstar has a glorious history of performing difficult stunts which includes the likes of the Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation plane sequence, a scene that went on to serve as a key point in the film's success. Mission: Impossible 6 also stars Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson, Angela Bassett and Alec Baldwin.
We wish Tom a speedy recovery and hope he gets back to action real soon!
