Tunisian Film A Son And Marathi Film Tujhya Aaila Bag Best Film Awards At 18th Pune International Film Festival -2020

Government of Maharashtra “Sant Tukaram” Best International Marathi Film was bagged by the film Anandi Gopal directed by Sameer Sanjay Vidwans and produced by Mangesh Kulkarni, Shariq Patel, Akash Chawla, Arunava Joy Sengupta, Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishore Arora. Rs.5.00 Lakhs was shared between the director (50%)  and the producers (50%)  equally. The award was given for its skilful narration of an inspiring story, without flinching from all its contrasting shades and contradictions, in a manner that shows artistic maturity in handling the medium.

Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Maha Mandal Best Marathi Film Director award went to Ajit Suryakant Wadikar for the film Y for his engaging and thrilling treatment of a subject that is important to address, and in a manner that is entertaining also and the Director got Rs. 25,000/

Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Maha Mandal Best Marathi Film  Actor award was bagged by Lalit  Prabhakar the actor of the film Anandi Gopal for his intense portrayal of a complex character with different conflicting shades. The actor gets Rs.25,000/-

Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Maha Mandal Best Marathi Screenplay  award  was bagged by  Niyaz Mujawar for the film Tujhya Aaila), for a well crafted screenplay that takes a fresh approach and balances all the elements while giving a strong message. The screen play writer  got  Rs.25,000/-.

Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Maha Mandal Best Cinematographer award goes to  Vijay Mishra, the cinematographer of the film Up Your Mother (original title : Tujhya Aaila), For its elegant and simple style that matches the subject in every way. He receives  Rs.25,000/-.

Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Maha Mandal Best Marathi Film  Actress award is given to Mukta Barve for the film 'Y' and the award is given for her inspiring portrayal of a courageous doctor who is determined to bring to justice a corrupt establishment. She gets Rs.25,000/-

Special Jury Award was bagged by Sujay  Sunil Dahak, the director of the film Tujhya Aaila). The award is given for its freshness and light touch in telling a story from the years of growing up in a rural setting.Special Mention Certificate is given to Gaurav A Ponkshe, the Cinematographer of the film Bonsai  For its exquisite black and white treatment of a contemporary subject

Special Mention Certificate was bagged by Nandu Madhav, the actor of the film 'Y' For his captivating portrayal, with amazing flair, in a challenging role, in absentia

World Cinema Competition films Awards

Best International film bagged by A Son (Tunisia)

For a tense family drama that mirrors society and confronts us with a full scale of moral issues, for its strong and precise direction, its exciting acting contribution, beautiful images and an atmosphere of a deeply emotional journey, the jury has decided to award as the best film of the 18th edition PIFF – the Tunisian film A SON directed by Mehdi M. Barsaoui and produced by Marc Irmer  & Habib Attia. The prize money of Rs. 10 Lakhs  is shared between the director (50%)  and the producers  (50%)  equally.

 Best Film Director

The Jury awarded the Best International Film Director award to Bartosz Kruhlik for his masterly paced, intensely acted and superbly crafted film “Supernova”, a gripping tale of tragic loss, human responsibility and redemption. The director got Rs.5.00 Lakhs.

Special Jury Award

Special Jury Award was bagged by the Screen Play writer Michael Idov for the Russian (Latvian and Czech ) film The Humorist (Yumorist).  For the nuanced portrayal of a promising writer, stuck between his own creative genius and the role of a jester for a despotic regime. Looking closely at the life of the humorist in 80s Soviet Union, the film raises valuable questions on censorship in our times vis-a-vis the universal human values of courage, freedom, integrity and love.

 Special Mention Certificate

An important historical film that takes us into the ardour of faith of freedom fighters whose courage had been lost to oblivion. A film that brings to life with emotion the charisma of these men and women who were swallowed up by the Brazilian dictatorship. We are pleased to award the Jury Special Mention Certificate to the film "Marighella" by Brazilian director Walter Moura.

 MIT-SFT Human Spirit Award

For the power of his description of an everyday heroism, for the delicacy with which his staging succeeds in making deep and moving the bonds of a community whose members are often invisible to our eyes, we are pleased to award the MIT-SFT Human Spirit Award to the film "Market" by Indian director Pradip Kurbah. and the director gets 1000 US$.

 Live Action Students Short Film awards

 Best Live action short Film award is given to the Indonesian film A Piece Of Hope directed by Syahreza Fahlevi and the director gets 1000 US $ For its delicate, generous and humane portrayal of an unlikely encounter between two contrasting characters, transcending the lines of conventional morality

  Best Live action short film Director's award goes to Alireza Ghasemi, the iranian Director of the short film Better Than Neil Armstrong For a very touching story that unravels with assured command over the medium in many respects.  He gets 500 US $.

Best Animation film : (shared)

1- Mazayk’s Arc Russian Fillm directed by Tatyana Chernigovskaya

2- The steppes of Khazar German Film direccted by Sofiia Melnyk

 The total prize money of 1000 US $ is shared between two film makers equally

 Best Director Animation film award was bagged by Sofiia Melnyk for the German film The steppes of Khazar and she gets US $ 500

 Tribal Short Films Awards

 The Mighty Gonts - Bricks of Chandagarh Directed by Viplav Subhash Shinde ( 1st Prize with certificate , trophy & cash award of  1,00,000/ INR)

 Padkai Directed by Amar Melgiri ( 2nd Prize with certificate , trophy & cash award of 75,000/ INR )

 Rani Beti Directed by Dharma Wankhade (3rd Prize with certificate , trophy & cash award of Rs 50,000

 Audience Award:

 For Marathi film

The audience award went to the director Sujay  Sunil Dahak of the film  Tujhya Aaila

 For World Cinema

The audience award went to the director  Mehdi M. Barsaoui for Tunisian film A Son

 The awards were given away at a small but informal function held at The National Film Archives Theatre in Pune yesterday evening
