Your new show ‘Maati Se Bandhi Dor’ is coming, so tell us something about your work life.

Work-life has become busy again, and it is better to remain busy. This business was awaited for many months and now it is back. Shooting has started, we have shot the promo, and we are having a lot of fun. After three years, I am working in a new team, with new people, and a new culture. All this is very new to me.

Tell us something about your upcoming show and your character in it.

As can be understood from the name itself, this is a story related to the land. This is the story of a farmer and his family from Maharashtra. My character's name is Ranvijay and friends fondly call him Rana. Ranvijay is also from a farmer family. The two heroines of our serial are sisters and they too are from a farmer family. The story is such that my character goes to the city to study but he does not want to go back to the village. His mother wants him to return to the village and take up farming and the family business. He loves a girl in the city but his mother has found another girl for him in the village. And Ranvijay can never say no to his mother. He listens only to his mother and does not listen to anyone else. He is very inspired by her mother. The story is about these relationships and their confusion.

It is being said that you are the only person in the entire team of the show who knows Hindi well, so is it true?

To be honest, the entire team knows Marathi very well and I am the only one who does not know Marathi. From our director to our actors, everyone is from a Marathi background. Our show is also of Marathi background. The setup of the show is of Kolhapur. That's why it's like home for them. These things are a bit new for me because the Marathi culture of Bombay is very different from the real Marathi culture. When people speak Marathi in Bombay, it is understood but the Marathi they speak in Kolhapur is not understood at all. I had a lot of trouble in the beginning but now I am learning and understanding things.

You have played very different characters in your old shows Udaariyaan and Jununiyat and your character in this upcoming show is also quite different. So how do you choose your script?

Not only now, but from my first project I try that my next project should be different from the first one. I try to ensure that whenever I do a new project, I learn something new from it. Like I got to learn Punjabi in Udariyaan. Out of passion, I got to learn guitar. I am getting to learn a lot about Marathi culture in this show. I think when you meet new people, work with them, and learn new things, your perspective also changes. These things help you a lot in becoming a better person in real life. And this helps you as an actor.

This is your third show, which one is your favorite out of all these?

I like them all very much. It will be very difficult for me to choose because all my projects are very close to my heart. Every project has taught me something different and inspired me to do something different. But if someone asked me to choose at gunpoint, then it would be Udaariyaan because that show changed my life.

What kind of projects do you want to work on in the coming time?

I want to work on such a project in which I can contribute something to the industry. I think every actor wants to do a lot of experiments in which he wants to do different types of roles. Same as Vikrant Massey did in the film '12th Fail'. I heard about his preparation for that film. I think preparing for a character is fun because we get to do a lot of new things and learn. The same preparation is then visible on the screen. Whatever you have learned while preparing for that character, if you put it into your craft, it is as if magic happens.
