Sandipta Sen, one of the most well-known faces of Bengali television, is stepping into the Hindi TV space for the very first time with Star Plus’ Sampoorna. In a recent interview with Mayapuri magazine’s Shilpa Patil, the actress spoke candidly about her long journey in Bengali films and television, and her new beginnings in Hindi TV. She revealed how this project came to her unexpectedly, why she instantly said yes, and shared her shooting experience in Chandigarh, the challenges of working on real locations, and the bond she has built with her co-stars. Sandipta Sen Makes Her Hindi TV Debut with Star Plus’ Sampoorna

You have worked extensively in Bengali films and television. This is your first Hindi television debut. How did this journey begin?

See, I’ve been working since 2008. My first launch project was with Star when their Bengali channel was launched. After that, I received several offers from Mumbai, from Star Plus and other channels as well. But at that time, I was still studying and also busy with ongoing projects, so I couldn’t commit. This time when Sampoorna came my way, I happened to be free—and I fell in love with the character instantly. Everything happened quite suddenly—just five days before the shoot I was informed, and then I flew straight from Kolkata to Chandigarh to start filming.(Mitti character Sampoorna)

The shooting of this serial is happening in Chandigarh, not Mumbai. How has that experience been?

Honestly, it’s quite challenging. If we were shooting in Mumbai, commuting to the sets would have been easier. But shooting a daily soap on real locations increases the pressure a lot. For a web series, shooting on real locations is one thing—but for a daily soap, it’s far more difficult, especially when you’re working with sync sound. Life is very tough for Mitti. She trusts her husband blindly. But whether Akash is really guilty of something or not—that’s hard to say right now. Maybe Akash is innocent and Naina is wrong, or maybe it’s the other way around. That’s the suspense—and only watching the show will reveal the truth. How has your chemistry been with your co-actors, especially Aham Sharma?

Aham Sharma is a brilliant actor. On set, we all work with complete seriousness, but off-camera, there’s a lot of fun and laughter. That friendly atmosphere reflects naturally on screen as well. I’ve been working in the Bengali industry for 18 years now, and I’ve received immense love and support from there.
