Vivacious actress Dhruvee Haldankar revving up to conquer the TV screens with her deadly dramatic evil-princess role of ‘Surasayee’ in this Sony TV show ‘Vignaharta Ganesha. The widely-watched Lord Ganesha-based mytho-daily show (Mon to Fri) resumes this week in the late evening (7.30 pm slot) with its fresh batch of recently-shot episodes, taking the story-content forward. From striking glam-mom roles in finite telly-comedies like ‘My Name Ijj Lakhan’ or in de-glam roles in TV crime-thrillers like ‘Crime Patrol’, adventure-loving Haldankar has always excelled in all her screen-characters..
A multi-faceted exuberant model-anchor-compere, as well, who crazily loves animals and pets ( especially cats) ‘Groovy Dhruvee’ was also seen in a chic mom’s role in ‘Trideviyaan’. In an exclusive candid chat, with this senior correspondent, oomph-girl Dhruvee confides why she loves playing the wicked demoness ‘Surasayee’ . So popular is Dhruvee’s diabolical-look bizarre-costumed mytho character ,that she is even fondly tagged as the ‘female Mogambo of Indian TV ’ Despite the negative shades, versatile Dhruvee who is currently shooting with all the Covid-19 preventive precautions on the opulent sets located in a ‘green-zone’, has no hang-ups. “
It feels great to be tagged as ‘female telly-Mogambo’, since I am playing a distinguished brand of a demonic character Surasayee which has different shades, looks and moods and it is multiple-layered.. The dialogues and dramatics are as powerful as my imposing character-- which although is wicked is so lovable . Which explains why I have a huge family fan-following especially among young kids.. Honestly, I consider myself lucky that production-house Contiloe and Sony TV extended my riveting role. Which was originally supposed to be brief only for a few episodes as the mother of Surapadma. Isn’t the role very demanding ? Responds Dhruvee, “ Yes of course, it’s challenging.
For donning the intriguing get-up and having the painted facial make-up, wearing the accessories takes around 90 minutes every time. For the lengthy dialogues and the varied expressions I need to put in double my energy. But the Surasayee character is super-charismatic as she also has magical super-powers. After having played a variety of roles in crime-thrillers and comedies and social genre, this is the ‘first time’ I am acting in a lavish royal-ambience mythological costume-drama which is proved to be a grand success, ‘ smiles Dhruvee who feels that her ‘Surasayee’ role has similar vibes-aura to that of Ranveer Singh’s multi-layered villainish ‘Khilji’ character in movie ‘Padmaavat’ .
The outspoken actress considers the ‘lock-down’ phase a ‘mixed blessing’. “Except for the short-term financial loss, the stay-at-home, was beneficial as I could practice my Kathak dancing, strum my electric guitar, pamper myself and my furry pet-cat Aslaan, do work-outs, work on my glowing skin etc ,” signs off hot-babe Dhruvee, who plans to celebrate her birthday (July 17th) like a ‘working-shagun’ on the distant sets with the friendly ‘Vignaharta..’cast and crew.
