Some years ago , a little boy called Dileep Kumar whose father was a musician working with the genius music composer Ilaiyaraja , used to stand below the recording studio of the maestro just to listen to the sounds of music- Ali Peter John

His father died a pauper and Dileep and his mother had to sell Dileep's father's musical instruments to make a living.

Dileep went on to be a leading composer of jingles till the master- director Mani Ratnam gave him the challenge to score the music for his film " Roja" and that was the beginning of the saga of a prodigy and it was during his journey to discover new rhythm's and sounds that Dileep and his family which was facing endless problems and had tried to find God and peace found all that they wanted when they found all their answers in Islam and Dileep got a new name which was A R Rahman , a name which now rules the world of music on his own terms.

Rahman has been the name behind the music of outstanding films made in almost all the languages of the South , Hindi and even for films and musical extravaganzas made in different parts of the world.

Rahman has won all the major awards for music in India and has won the Oscar award and the Grammy awards too

Rahman is still the big boss of big music and has still to find any kind of competition . He is also the man behind Sunrise Music which is his school for music to encourage new talent in different spheres of music.

And now Rahman is a producer and writer who wants to make an attempt to bring about a change in the way films are made in this part of the world .

Rahman together with his friend and short filmmaker Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy started work on their film titled "99 Days" two years ago , but there were hurdles in the way of even a master like Rahman.

And to add to all the other hurdles came the pandemic and the film which was completed a year ago and was scheduled to be released last year will now positively be released on April 16 , (2021)

The film is the story (written by Rahman) of a young man and his struggle to make it as a composer.

Will the film be some kind of a biopic on the life and music of Rahman ? The answer will be found on the day "99 Days" is released .

Rahman introduces some first time actors who have been selected after countless auditions.

Among the seasoned actors in the film are Manisha Koirala and Lisa Ray . There are renowned names from different fields of life who make guest appearances and interestingly , the well-known and controversial stand- up comedian Kunal Kamra also plays a camio .

And if it is a film written and produced by Rahman , it has to have the magic touch of the music of one of the greatest maestro's living in our time And it is . So , stand up to welcome a new A R Rahman who I am sure will not let you or anyone down .
