USS DIN DEV SAHAB NE KISHOR KUMAR KO DARA HI DIYA THA

Dev Anand, like always, was all excited about launching his only son, Suniel Anand as the leading man in a film called " Anand Aur Anand ", Which as the title suggests would be a story about a father and his son - Ali Peter John

He in his own charming way had persuaded actresses like Raakhee and Smita Patel to team up with him and they couldn't say no to the man who had heroines like Hema Malini and Raakhee perform elaborate pooja's for him on the days his films released and on his birthdays.

He was as was the practise in the 80's, launching the film with the recording of a song as had made all arrangements for it without letting many in the industry know about it.

On the day the song was to be recorded someone from Dev's unit informed Kishore Kumar about it and the singer who was known as the voice of Dev Anand and was also known for his eccentricities went berserk and called his driver, got into his car, dressed only in his lungi and kurta and asked the driver to drive like hell as he wanted to reach Film Centre, the recording studio where Dev was recording as soon as possible.

The was chaos followed by pandemonium all over Film Centre when he entered and Dev looked visably flustered and even lost his temper when he asked, " inko kisne bataya aur kisne bullaya?" but before Dev could say anything more, Kishore fell at Dev's feet and started howling and saying things like, " maine kya gunaah kiya? mujhe kaise nikaal sakte hain aap? aap hi ne to kaha tha ke main aap ki awaaz hoon, to aap meri is tarah sab ke saamne apman kaise kar sakte hain?" The gentleman the Dev was tried his best to first calm him down, but nothing seemed to be working and he finally took him to one of the rooms in the studio while Kishore Kumar kept screaming and crying the a child who was being deprived of his his most favourite toy.

Once in the room, Dev told him that he was not the romantic hero in the film but the father of the hero and that his voice would not suit the young hero being played by his son ,Suneil Anand and he also told Kishore that he had chosen a young singer called Abhijit Bhattacharya to sing for his son.

Kishore Kumar kept crying and screaming and ask Dev Sahab why his son , Amit Kumar couldn't sing for Suneil and Dev Sahab kept telling Kishore that he had given his word to Abhijit and he couldn't go back on his promise as it would break the heart of the young singer,but Kishore refused to give up and kept crying till it was lunch time and the recording was getting delayed.

It was only around 1.pm that Dev Sahab could make Kishore understand and Kishore left the recording studio in a huff and still continued crying .

It was perhaps the first time that there was a scene like this between Dev Sahab and Kishore whose voice was considered the voice of Dev Sahab by many .
