USS DIN VAIBHAV ( VIBHU) ANAND, VIJAY ANAND KE EKLAUTE BETE DEV SAHAB SE MILE AUR PHIR ..... BY ALI PETER JOHN

I was sitting with Vijay Anand and his wife Sushma and their teenager son, Vaibhav in their apartment at Metropolitan and the little Vaibhav who never showed any interest in films told his parents that he was going to meet his "Dev Uncle" in his Pent House and Vijay Anand was surprised because Vaibhav had never shown any signs of being carried away by the legendary status of his "Dev Uncle" - Ali Peter John

Vaibhav did not return for more than an hour and his parents were disturbed, but Vaibhav was back home at 8 pm sharp as he had promised his parents .

But , there was a distinct change in the young boy. He had put his collar up, he had tucked his colourful shirt into his jeans and had combed his hair into the famous " Dev Anand puff" and had started speaking and walking around like his " Dev Uncle" and he told his father that he wanted to be a star like his "Dev Uncle" and his visits to the Pent House became a regular feature of his life every evening.

But as soon as he had made up his mind to be an actor, his father suddenly died of a massive heart attack and he was left alone with his mother.

I had some ocassions to meet Vaibhav and he had changed his mind about being an actor and told me that he wanted to direct Amitabh Bachchan in a film for Ketnav his father's banner.

I tried convincing Amitabh to at least listen to his script which he had ready, but something was not working and the meeting between Amitabh and Vaibhav couldn't happen , and I had taken voluntary retirement from Screen and didn't have any opportunity to meet Vaibhav or his mother.

A month ago, I was near Ketnav and sent a note to him through some helpful security guards, but they said that they knew nothing about the activities of Vaibhav and that he hardly came to office, they also said that his mm mother was not keeping very well and I left the place where I had countless meetings, lunches and dinners with " the genuine angry man of the industry " .

Vaibhav could have trained under his father and even if he had to be as good as his father, he could never be like his father, because a father like Vijay Anand comes as a gift to a son only once in a way.
