Veteran Actor Biswajeet-Da Religiously Organises His Durga Puja At JVPD Ground, Every Year

Among the high-profiled Durga Puja pandals that are erected in various areas in Mumbai city are the ones patronized by Kajol, Rani Mukherji, and Sharbani Mukherji at Juhu,  and by singer Abhijeet at Lokhandwala . Yet another popular Durga Pujo pandal during the ongoing Navratri festivities, is the one at  JVPD ground, opposite Ritambhara College organised by veteran actor Biswajeet  who is a staunch Maa Durga- devotee who has been religiously and passionately  hosting his own Durga-Pujo pandal in Juhu, for the past 16 years. The inaugural ritual  of Biswajeet’s pandal was done by revered Prabhu Braj Hari ( head of ISKCON-Juhu  ) and today Mahasaptami is being celebrated with fervor and gaiety.  The 80 plus-yet-active Biswajeet who is known for dozens of  retro Bengali and Hindi landmark movies like ‘Bees Saal Baad’,  ‘Kohraa’ ‘ April Fool’ , Mere Sanam’ ‘Kismat’  and of course ‘Main Sunder Hoon’.etc , informed me that he has invited his well-wishers from the film-fraternity. “Generally Rakesh Roshan makes it a point to attend,  if he is in town. Most probably, Hrithik Roshan and composer Rajesh Roshan are expected to drop in for darshan and prashaad at my pandal,” discloses Biswajeet-Da who believes that “:its Maa Durga-debi who gives me the divine inspiration and strength to perform her puja-seva year after year”.  Incidentally actor-singer Biswajeet shares his birthday (Dec 14^th)  with ‘showman’ Raj Kapoor. “Raj-saab and I never got the chance to work together in movies.  But we always shared a warm rapport and wished each other on our birthdays,” he smiles.
