Although it’s his 100th film, versatile super-bankable producer-actor Ajay Devgn is both excited, confident yet quite anxious even as the countdown begins for his action-packed historical 3-D movie ‘Tanhaji—The Unsung Warrior’ which releases this Friday. Enthuses Ajay, “ If you see the regular ‘2-D’ version, you may perhaps enjoy only 50 percent of the visual impact of the grandeur. Because the way, the well-researched ‘Tanhaji’ movie has been conceived and shot, with latest technology by director Om Raut, it’s ideally meant for ‘3-D’ viewing. It’s bound to visually overwhelm the theatre audiences .Possibly, our movie surpasses even some of the Hollywood ‘3-D’ movies. It’s never been done earlier in India. Right from our locations and camera movements we had kept the ‘Z-Depth compositing’ factor in mind, to allow for maximum ‘3-D’ impact , “ reveals the dedicated. macho ‘Singham’ actor who takes pride in innovative ‘indigenous’ ( Make-in-India ) technology which he has introduced time and again to Bollywood, over the past two decades. Hitting out against cynical elements who contend that Tanhaji was famous only in Maharashtra, Ajay offer his counter-version. Explains Devgn,” Tanhaji was not a just a regional warrior, he was a daring national patriot who fought for the country, against aggressive Aurangzeb who was located in Delhi. It’s because of ‘Tanhaji’ that our national historical map did not change.” Right from his academic school-student days Ajay was fascinated with both history and geography, but hated algebra. Little wonder than, the dynamic Devgn has started his ambitious movie series on ‘Unsung Warriors’ where he has already shortlisted a few historical icons. “ My next historical will be on Mahmud of Ghazni and brave warrior Raja Suheldev,” reveals the versatile star-actor whose upcoming period movies on the floor include ‘Maidaan’ where he plays a football coach and Bhuj-The Pride of India based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Out here Ajay is cast as an IAF Squadron Leader. Sharing screen-space with co-star Saif Ali Khan in ‘Tanhaji was again a reunion of sorts because “ we both had a great time together in ‘Omkara’ and Saif is a fabulous actor”. As far as actress-wife Kajol goes, Ajay shares that he had given her the option to decide whether she would wish to play the Savitribai character , “ We are all so super-delighted that Kajol consented to play that role. Because it required an intense performance, which she could ideally do justice to,” signs off the rugged Devgn.
