Vyjayanthi Movies’ ‘Sita Ramam’ bags the ‘Best Indian Film’ award at The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2023

Making India proud and winning hearts globally currently is Vyjayanthi Movies’ home banner film ‘Sita Ramam’. Starring Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandana in key roles, the film has been announced as the ‘Best Indian Film’ at the prestigious Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2023. An Indian Telugu-language period romantic drama, the film has been written and directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema.

Sharing the same on its social media handle, Vyjayanthi Movies wrote “First and the most special award. Best Indian Film @iffmelbourne thank u and thank u govt of Australia for appreciating our labor of love… so honored to be there…”

A momentous moment for the team ‘Sita Ramam’ as the film’s lead actress Mrunal Thakur received the Diversity in Cinema award, owing to her noteworthy performance in the film.

In its 14th edition this year, The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) showcases some of the most diverse, inclusive, groundbreaking films and filmmakers, all whilst encapsulating the best of Indian cinema from the Indian subcontinent.

During the festival, a special chat was organized under the IIFM Chats segment to talk about the globalization of South Indian cinema. Present on the panel were Swapna Dutt Chalasani and Priyanka Dutt from Vyjayanthi Movies. The two ladies along with ‘Sita Ramam’ director Hanu Raghavapudi accepted the Award for the film at the festival.

The awards ceremony was held in all its grandeur at the iconic Hamer Hall in Melbourne and witnessed prominent artists, filmmakers, and enthusiasts like Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, Shabana Azmi, Mrunal Thakur, Abhishek Bachchan, Anurag Kashyap, Kartik Aaryan and more marking their presence.

A pioneer in filmmaking, Vyjayanthi Movies’ next is the highly anticipated ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. The film comes with an ensemble star cast of A-listers including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone along with Disha Patani. The film is expected to be a mythology-inspired sci-fi spectacular set in the future.
