Watch Out For Short Film - Harshit Now Streaming On Disney+hotstar

Written and directed by Dhruva Harsh, the short film ‘Harshit’ features SatyajeetDubey in the lead followed by Abhishek Pandey, Diksha Juneja and Natasha Rana.Inspired by playwright William Shakespeare’s ‘The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark’, the story revolves around a Hindu boy named Harshit, and Rahila, a young Muslim girl, who fall in love with each other. Even though their families and friends are highly critical of their relationship, Harshit would like nothing more than to make their love official. However, as their affection becomes more evident to Rahila’s family, tragic events occur which are bound to have disastrous consequences for the couple and their friends and relatives.

The film has been showcased at renowned film festivals namely – the 16th Mindanao Film Festival 2018, Philippines, 7th Delhi International Film Festival New Delhi 2018, Pondicherry International Film Festival 2018, 4th International Film Festival of Shimla 2018 and 7th Smita Patil International Film Festival – 2018. Satyajeet Dubey who plays the role of Harshit exults,“This short film is close to my heart as it beautifully paints the picture of the tragic love story of Harshit and Rahila who belong to two different backgrounds. It is inspired by the magnificent Shakespearean classic whose appeal hasn’t faded a bit in today’s times. The film’s subtly nuanced characterization is what I find most striking. It manages to capture the layers of symbolism the play Hamlet contains while depicting an Indian set up and being heavily influenced by Indian culture. My character Harshit is that of a conflicted young boy who is torn between love and the reality of communal hatred which he eventually finds himself to be a victim of. I am glad this has finally released on Disney+ Hotstar and am positive that it will be a rewarding viewing experience for audiences”
