It’s a known fact that whenever Mani Rathnam and A R Rahman < right from ‘Roja’ in 1993 > have combined their brilliant talents, there is a super-magic impact at the box-office After the phenomenal box-office success South-based multi-lingual blockbusters like ‘Baahubali ’ Pushpa’ and the latest ‘KGF’ , it’s now the turn of period epic-super-grandeur movie ‘'Ponniyin Selvan-1', which is due to release Pan-India on Friday Sept 30th.

The spectacular movie ‘PS-1 is releasing in cinema theaters simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam languages and of course in Hindi. The star-studded magnum opus will be released in two parts, the second part will release in April 2023..

It is common knowledge that the gorgeous actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shares a special family-bonding with her mentor-director Mani Rathnam. It may be recalled that Aishwarya started her film career with Mani Ratnam's 'Iruvar' only. Later, they also worked together in films like 'Guru' and 'Raavan'.

Besides Aishwarya Rai, movie 'Ponniyin Selvan' also stars Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, and Prakash Raj among others.

The epic-period action thriller film 'Ponniyin Selvan' apparently revolves around the popular folk-lore pre-historic period story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south, who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I.

Aishwarya's role is said to be of his rival’s manipulative wife who makes devious plans against the king to bring him down. The film is jointly produced by Allirajah Subaskaran and Mani Ratnam under their iconic banner Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
