Firdous Shaikh: "It was the charm of the name ‘Bombay’ that brought me to this city and Bollywood"

Firdous Shaikh, a film producer, is releasing a multi-language film titled "Bombay," inspired by her deep connection to the city and its unique charm, which drew her from Bangalore to Bollywood

The film "Bombay" is produced under Sanam Productions India and follows Shaikh’s previous works like "Third Eye" and "One Story Many Ends"

Despite sharing its name with Mani Ratnam's iconic film, Shaikh believes that films can have the same title yet offer distinct stories, catering to different audiences

The Censor Board initially raised concerns about the title, but approved it after understanding the film's historical context, set during the early '90s when the city was known as Bombay

Set in the aftermath of the 1993 communal riots, the film captures the transformation of the city and its underworld, offering a raw depiction of that chaotic era

Firdous Shaikh describes Bombay as a microcosm of India, embodying both ambition and simplicity, glamour and grit, and the blend of Hollywood dreams with Bollywood reality

The film is made in four languages—Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, and Telugu—to reflect the city's diversity and aims to resonate widely, with hopes of achieving ₹100 crore at the box office
