Raj Kundra Fraud Case: Shilpa Shetty’s Husband to Appear Before EOW in ₹60 Crore Scam

Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, is embroiled in a legal controversy involving a fraud allegation of Rs 60 crore The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Mumbai has summoned him for questioning.

A lookout notice has been issued against both Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty, preventing them from leaving the country as the investigation proceeds

The case stems from a complaint by businessman Deepak Kothari, who claims he was defrauded in a debt-investment deal related to his now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Private Limited

Kothari alleges that a substantial amount of money, meant for business development between 2015 and 2023, was misappropriated for personal use by Kundra and others

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have denied these allegations, with their lawyer describing them as "baseless and malicious" They maintain that the company’s financial troubles were due to old transactions and not criminal activity.

In 2015, Kothari invested a total of Rs 6043 crore in the company through different agreements. However, he later discovered that the company was undergoing bankruptcy proceedings due to defaults on agreements.

Shilpa Shetty resigned as a director in 2016, despite having given a personal guarantee, which Kothari claims was part of being misled

The investigation by the EOW will determine the subsequent legal actions against Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty
