So, here's a compilation of some of the most exciting short films that have come out in the recent times.

 

1. Juice

The celebrated director of Masaan, Neeraj Ghaywan, is back with his another excellent work in a form of a short film titled, Juice. The film highlights issues like gender equality, casteism and patriarchy inherent in our society. Shefali Shah perfectly played her character of an angry housewife who was tired living in such suffocating patriarchial society or her own home where even women are refusing to treat other women and their own children equally.  

2.  Anukul

Based on a short story by Ray, Anukul is directed by Sujoy Ghosh who is well renowned for his works like Kahaani, Jhankaar Beats as well as the popular short film titled Ahalya. Anukul, starring Saurabh Shukla and Parambrata Chatterjee, is like a ride of future where the life of man is driven by a machine or robot who have its own rights as a human. What happens when a machine starts questioning our ways of the world? Watch this masterpiece to get the answer.

3. Half Ticket 2

Directed by Prathamesh Patil, Half Ticket 2 is the sequel to the 2017 short film Half Ticket. So, first, you should watch the first part before directly jump to watch this film. It is a  light-hearted short film about life that reminds us of the importance of enjoying the little moments of joy that we often tend to ignore because for us our big dreams are very important. The short film stars Gunjan Malhotra, Naveen Kasturia, Darshan Jariwala, and Kumar Varun.

4. Maa

Directed by Niranjan Iyengar, Maa revolves around a young artist who is addicted to drugs. The short film stars Neena Kulkarni, Dino Morea, and Vivaan Shah. The story is about the mother and sons relationship and how one decision of a mother for her addicted son changed their whole life. What happens when a mother choose between ‘right’ and ‘necessary’ thing to do?

5. Chhuri 

Chhuri is another short film of Tisca Chopra after Chutney which revolves around her (Meera) husband's extramarital affair. But this film is a different experience all together in which she decides to confront the ‘other woman’ played by Surveen Chawla..and she does that without flying into a fit of rage or becoming an emotional wreck. The film directed by Mansi Jain is also featured, Anurag Kashyap as Meera's husband.
