An ambitious Hindi film titled Aaye Din Apne was launched by the writer -producer Shekhar Rajput way back in 1976 under his banner Anjana Production with Rakesh Pandey, Rajasthani and Hindi stage actress Shanti Chaturvedi, Seema Kapoor and Mala Jaggi in the main lead roles - Jyothi Venkatesh
The veteran actor Pran was slated to play the role of the main villain in the film directed by Krishna Deo. As luck would have it, the film with Minoo Bilimoria as the DOP, could not be completed at all as it was stalled after just one reel had already been canned and the producer was handicapped because his two trusted partners ditched him after making him insolvent and what’s more also ran away with cash from the office which had been hired for the production of their film.
When asked to share more details about the aborted project, Bhavana Rajput, (the distressed daughter of producer Shekhar Rajput), who is now married to actor turned director Yayatti Pandya, (nephew of writer-director Krishnakant Pandya) who had played the romantic lead in the film Parayi Beti tells me that since she was not even born at that point of time, she is not at all in a position to remember or for that matter recall their names properly.
In fact, Shekhar Rajput had also recorded a song with Usha Mangeshkar for his film with music director Patel J.C. However Bhavana Rajput recalls that family friend Lata Mangeshkar, who used to consider Shekhar Rajput as her brother, had promised Shekhar Rajput that if only he was able to complete at least six reels of his film, she would certainly ensure that she would manage to get finance to complete and also release the stalled film.
Bhavana adds. “Lata Mangeshkar was closely associated with our family. It was actually my husband Yayatti Pandya’s grandfather Pandit Vishweshwar Sharma who had penned the first song of his career which turned out to be a super-duper chartbuster hit. It was Chal Sanyasi Mandir Mein that was picturized on Hema Malini in the Manoj Kumar-Hema Malini starrer Sanyasi.
