Apparently, most of the film news media seems to have overlooked the fact that nine years ago. Vidya Balan has already played the title role of a detective ‘Bobby Jassoos (2014). Now this time, versatile vibrant Vidya is back with a bang on the big screen in cinema theatres with her latest suspense crime-thriller-murder mystery ‘Neeyat’. Incidentally,  Vidya was last seen on the big screen in Mission Mangal (2018). In the last couple of years, the actress headlined OTT streaming platforms films in amazing roles such as Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, and Jalsa.publive-imageDirected by the same (‘Shakuntala Devi’ OTT director ) awesome Anu Menon, the maverick slick movie ‘Neeyat’ features an ensemble of some of the finest actors. The multi-starrer entourage at the media event was led by celeb-actors Vidya Balan, Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Niki Walia, Amrita Puri, Shahana Goswami, Dipannita Sharma Atwal, Shashank Arora, Prajakta Koli, Danesh Razvi, and also included director Anu Menon and producer Vikram Malhotra of Abundantia Entertainment.

Following three years of digital releases during the pandemic including Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, and Jalsa, Vidya shares, “Neeyat is appropriate for a theatrical release and it comprises all the entertaining and gripping masala elements that audiences seek,” insists Vidya who plays Intelligence Agency smart-sharp, daring detective Mira Rao.publive-imageWhen asked if she feels the pressure of a theatrical release, considering the unfavorable box-office fate of Hindi films in recent months, the actress appears super-optimistic. She says, “My last release at theatres was Mission Mangal and it did very well. My fingers are crossed that people will come to the theatres to watch Neeyat and love it. Maybe, you’ll watch it again—repeat-value-once more (she laughs).”

The ‘Dirty Picture’ movie National Award-winning actress Vidya also jokes about how the exhaustion caused by constantly promoting her film doesn’t let her feel the pressure of its release. “There is no time to process what you feel, but I’m super-excited and I look forward to seeing how everyone receives the film,” she adds.

In one of her outspoken funny moods, when asked whom would she like to kill or murder in the showbiz industry, Vidya frankly answered. “Whoever does not watch our movie 'Neeyat' in theatres and encourages piracy, I would wish to kill such people. Agar aapki neeyat saaf ho, toh, pahunch jaaiye theatres mein, hamari movie dekhne,” she reacted   publive-imageSharing her sentiments on the film’s theatrical prospects, director Anu Menon states, “We’ve lived in our homes for over three years and have consumed some amazing content. But, ever since Neeyat was conceived, we knew that this film was for the big-screen experience. I knew then it was time to go back to the movies because I genuinely feel that this multi-starrer thriller film has fun and entertainment and it is the kind of a film that you can watch with your families and come out smiling.”

With the maverick movie, dynamic producer Vikram Malhotra marks his fourth collaboration with Vidya after Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, and Jalsa. When asked how he is able to empower stories that present inspiring women, Vikram reveals, “I’m merely enabling stories featuring strong women. Eventually is the director and the writer who create those powerful characters. We’ve been very fortunate that by the way of divine intervention or some law of attraction, these scripts land up with us.”publive-imageNeeyat releasing today ( July 7) in numerous cinema theatres sees Vidya as a smart and sharp-witted daring detective Mira Rao, who is assigned to investigate the murder of a billionaire and the immediate suspects revolve around his family members and friends.
