Why is Vicky Kaushal ( excellent as ‘Sam Bahadur’), so sentimental about his biopic being ‘sandwiched’ between star-biwi Katrina’s two upcoming movies ? by Chaitanya Padukone

Versatile star super-actor Vicky Kaushal   who has always been highly appreciated for his amazing performances in lead roles as a freedom-fighter patriot  in movie Uddham  Singh (2021)  or as a tough army-officer in   both ‘Raazi’  (2018) and in ‘Uri-The Surgical Strike (2019 ). This time Vicky Kaushal  has highly impressed viewers and critics alike ( in the slick teaser-trailer) with his authentic near-perfect portrayal  of legendary  Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the upcoming awesome biopic movie ‘Sam Bahadur’  ! Which  highlights the daring yet glorious life and times of the highly-decorated  charismatic commanding army chief,  who passed away in June 2008 at the age of  94 years..  The much-awaited movie ‘Sam Bahadur’ is directed by  critically acclaimed Meghna  Gulzar ( of ‘Raazi’ fame)  and produced by  veteran movie-mogul Ronnie Screwvala under his RSVP Movies banner. The film also has in its cast the famous two actresses of  mega-hit  ‘Dangal’ (2016) movie  fame,  gorgeous Fatima Sana Shaikh cast as former Prime Minister madame Indira Gandhi  and  charming Sanya Malhotra as the wife (Mrs Silloo) of  Sam Manekshaw.. The authentic ‘period’ costumes-outfits of  period biopic ‘Sam Bahadur’ across multiple decades are designed by talented twin-sisters Divvya Gambhir and Nidhhi Gambhir. For whom it was a “very challenging yet enjoyable creative assignment”. 

Interestingly,  movie Sam Bahadur  seems to be set for an interesting  competitive ‘box-office battle’  facing the  crime-thriller movie ‘Animal’ starring Anil Kapoor-Bobby Deol-Ranbir Kapoor  (releasing on December 1) directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and featuring Rashmika Mandanna in a prominent role.

 Scheduled for release on Friday December 1,  movie Sam Bahadur will soon be followed by Katrina's film,Merry Christmas, which is poised for release on the big screen on December 8th. Additionally, the  2023 Diwali celebration will witness the arrival of Katrina Kaif's  Tiger-3 movie,  during Diwali just  few weeks before the release of Vicky's film.

As a  school student and  while visiting Hotel Oberoi Towers ( Nariman Point-Mumbai) and while travelling on domestic flights , I  got the opportunity to personally meet respected Sam Bahadur-Sir many times. What I realized, that Sam-Sir  was very frank and yet witty, humorous by nature when he was sharing his comments and views  with me or other people. In the recent media-conference, I openly shared this positive observation with both director Meghna Gulzar and hero Vicky Kaushal . They said they had taken care to project his cheerful yet candid nature in  the Sam Bahadur movie.   

If in the movie “Uri The Surgical Strike, the  energizing dialogues of  Vicky Kaushal ‘ How’s The Josh !?”  became very popular nationwide, then in ‘Sam Bahadur’, Vicky’s  bold, frank  counter on-screen dialogues like “Beg your pardon Madam--Soldiers ki duty hai---Desh ki raksha ke liye-- dushman ki jaan lena”,  is expected to make its  major recall-impact.
