He was and still is what is called " a Bandra boy ," He was born and brought up in the posh area of Hill Road in Bandra bang opposite the St Andrews Church which was opposite the Galaxy Apartments where his father Salim Khan had bought a one bedroom flat in 1973 - Ali Peter John

He had Christians as his best friends and like them , he too went to the St Stanislaus High School run by Spanish priests and was known as an average student who was more interested in athletics and extracellular activities , He scraped through his high school and was more interested in films than in pursuing further studies.
His principal and all his teachers had a soft corner for him , but he was never known for taking advantage of their goodness .

It was while he was the "good boy" in school that he used to regularly visit the nearby miraculous basilica of the Mother of the Mount ( also known as Mount Marry ) which is now close to the mansion of Shah Rukh Khan ,Mannat .
He used to spend his time sitting in one corner of the church and praying to "Mother Marry" to guide him along the right way .

He is Salman Khan today , one of the biggest stars of India and busy not only with films , but also in extracurricular activities , sports , business and social work.
But whenever has the time , he makes it a point to go back to that corner in Mount Mary's basilica and spends moments in silence and has what he says " a conversation and a chat with the Mother and he doesn't have to ask her for any favours because he knows that the Mother knows his needs and has a plan for him ready and this plan , Salman says have seen him through all his ups and downs , including the case dealing with the gruesome accident on Hill Road and the Black Bucks case in Jodhpur.

Salman is so grateful to the Mother that he is now trying his best to join a committee to give a better look to the basilica .
