At 78 whenever he must be looking back at his career , Amitabh Bachchan must be certainly wondering how he overcame all the challenges in his way and still standing strong in the face of any abd every kind of opposition or rivalry- Ali Peter John

It was a time when Rajesh Khanna and his magic was sweeping across the country and there were other stars like Dev Anand , Dharmendra , Shashi Kapoor and Manoj Kumar were still ruling .

All the stars could never imagine that a dark horse called Amitabh Bachchan would sweep their feet from the ground .

Rajesh Khanna actually saw no competition from any one of the stars , especially Amitabh.

He was so sure about Amitabh not making it that he had even told Jaya Bhaduri not to hold on to her lover because he would never be able to find a place of any eminence, but it was the love of Jaya and her confidence in her lover that made her stand by him till he kicked the chair on which Pran was to sit and zoomed to superstardom and Rajesh Khanna was left out of any race as a star and the other stars just had to look back in frustration or in admiration.

In the early 80's there seemed to be a threat to Amitabh from star-sons like Kumar Gaurav , Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Deol . But however hard they tried , they couldn't touch the heights Amitabh had reached.

Some years later , Amitabh again faced a threat with the coming of the three khans , Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh .

This time Amitabh was a little shaky and even spoke about the competition from the Khans .

He sometimes spoke in public and said ," Aajkal toh mere bachhe bhi mujhe dekh kar tung aa gaye hain.

Woh Aamir Khan or Salman Khan ko dekhna behtar samajhte hain". Amitabh ne ek aur podaav paar kiya thaa .

And now there are all those little boys who are seen as rivals of Amitabh . They must be dreaming of what they cannot attain at least in this life .

To think of it Amitabh has more films on hand than any of the older or younger stars. Amitabh has always believed in moving with the time , and to prove it he will at his age , he is about to start working on a film in which Deepika Padukone will be cast opposite him.
