Exuberant ( ‘SOTY-2’ ) glam-babe Tara Sutaria (discovery of Bollywood showman Karan Johar) seemed super-thrilled with her “challenging role” in her upcoming movie ‘Marjaavaan’ directed by Milap Milan Zaveri . Gushes the former VJ-turned-vivacious model-actress Sutaria ,“That’s because I play a mute,de-glam yet charming Kashmiri character called ‘Zoya’,who is romantic as well and expresses her fond feelings in ‘sign-language’.Which also meant I had to religiously learn the intricate Indian sign-language and expressions from a reputed coach Sangeeta.” .
Interestingly,Tara who shares her birthday (Nov 19) with the erstwhile iconic sex-symbol of the ‘70s-- Zeenat Aman, confides that she was ‘secretly’ christened ‘Tara’ by her father, when she was born.“Actually my mom was not so happy with the name ‘Tara’. Going by my name, stardom seems to be my birthright, isn’t it”,she blushes as she smiles.. Brushing off rumours, that she was very close to her ‘Marjaavaan’ debonair co-star Sidharth Malhotra and now discreetly dating suave-actor Aadar Jain, she counters.“As far as Sid is concerned,we happen to be cordial neighbours in the same residential complex and we do share several things in common.Including the fact that we both are Karan Johar ‘star-discoveries’.Nothing more to it. Well, Aadar is special to me and we are both crazy foodies and we enjoy each other’s company,”reveals the svelte Sutaria . When quizzed on why she feels her second movie co-starring ravishing Rakul Preet Singh, is “unique”,she shares, “Although my character is cute ‘n’ mute, I also play a music-teacher and even play the harmonica. Our gripping movie ‘Marjaavaan’ has fabulous songs and heart-warming romance, despite an undercurrent of brutal action-violence,”insists the formally trained singer and also a classical and ballet dancer. She will next be seen in an unconventional lead role opposite macho debutant-hero Ahaan Shetty ( Suniel Shetty’s son) in a remake of the South Indian regional mega-hit movie ‘RX100’.
“Actually I was supposed to ‘sing’ in ‘Marjaavaan’,but because the girl’s character is mute,it was not possible. But if possible, I certainly wish to also record few of my own playback songs for my lead screen-characters in future,”she signs off.
