Despite a pesky recurring cough due to a bad throat, that keeps interrupting her candid chat with the media, the charismatic  light-eyed Kajol is pretty chilled . Sounding upbeat, she continues to converse about her riveting role as ‘Savitribai’—the wife of brave unsung Maratha warrior  ‘Tanhaji Malusare’  in the historical movie titled ‘Tanhaji-The Unsung Warrior’ . Which is her (producer-actor) hubby Ajay Devgn’s 100th film release.  The  charming‘DDL J ’ and ‘K3G’ heroine, exudes a sense of pride when she enthuses, “ Perhaps this is the first time I have spoken my lines in Marathi as well especially for the Marathi version of ‘Tanhaji’. My popular pairing with my actor-hubby Ajay Devgn ( he plays the title-role Tanhaji) will also be seen in the ‘3-D’  format, in a mega-historical, will prove to be a visual-delight for all our fans,” insists Kajol  who is not perturbed that she has relatively limited screen-time. “ You will always remember my unforgettable solid character Savitribai, as she is not someone you can choose to overlook.  It’s about what she says in the movie which is important and very relevant to the story with a direct bearing as to who Tanhaji was.  The exuberant Kajol is also sentimental about her ethnic Maharashtrian  ( navvari saree) period look and get-up.  “ That’s because I had worn a similar ethnic costume and look 20 years ago, when I got married at Ajay. There was a lot of meticulous research done by our director Om Raut , for my costumes  and make-up-looks ( Mickey Contractor)  in ‘Tanhaji’ . For a person like me who is known for her constantly on-the-move mobile nature, I had to spend two and a half hours daily sitting for my hair, looks and dressing up. Which is honestly too long a time.  We got this senior lady Asha-tai who is a specialist in draping navvari sarees to performing artistes for the past 50 years,” reveals Kajol  who adds that she would love to wear a ‘navvari saree ’ off-screen and walk gracefully on a red-carpet as well .  “It’s only when I went for my dubbing that I realized the over-all impact  and dignified aura of my presence in ‘Tanhaji’, “ discloses Kajol who also shares that she wasn’t soo good at her -history-subject while at school,  but simply loved mythology and loved the gods and goddesses. When quizzed as to which mytho-character she would love to play, she instantly reacts with “‘Unfortunately it’s a male, but I would love to play Lord Krishna’ a very interesting fabulous divine mytho-character.”. Curiously enough, Saif Ali Khan was originally Kajol’s first hero in her debut movie ‘Bekhudi’(1992) but he was abruptly replaced by actor Kamal Sadanah as decided by her mentor-coach-director Rahul Rawail. “In ‘Tanhaji’, although Saif is part of the cast of Tanhaji, I do not share screen-space scenes with him, “ she signs off.
