WOW! KOOZHANGAL IS INDIA’S OFFICIAL ENTRY TO OSCARS THIS YEAR

Debutant director PS Vinothraj's Koozhangal (Pebbles) is India's official entry to Oscars 2022 - Jyothi Venkatesh

The film was produced and presented by Nayanthara and her current boyfriend Vignesh Shivan's Rowdy Pictures banner.

Producer Vignesh Shivan has taken to social media to share the happy news with everyone.

Koozhangal had earlier also won the prestigious Tiger Award at the 50th International Film Festival of Rotterdam this year in February in the Netherlands.

The realistic drama stars Chellapandi and Karuththadaiyaan in lead roles. Koozhangal explores the relationship between a father, who is a drunkard, and his son.

His wife goes back to her parent's house because of her abusive husband. How the father-son duo wins back the trust of the woman forms the rest of the story.

14 films were shortlisted for this year's India's official entry to the Oscars 2022. Among the 14 films were Malayalam film Nayattu, Tamil film Mandela and also the Hindi film Sardar Udham.

Shaji N Karun, the chairperson of the 15-member selection committee watched the 14 films in Kolkata and reportedly, the decision to select Koozhangal for the Oscars 2022 was unanimous.
