Yash Patnaik and Mamta Patnaik’s Inspire Films’ latest offering Gauna: EK Pratha on Shemaroo has been getting a lot of attention. The show touches upon an important subject and beautifully depicts how such things impact humanity. Actor Namrata Kapoor, who plays the role of Savitri, praises the show and also her character.
“Savitri is a very strong character. She is a widow who has raised her child alone. She is from a village and as we know the hardships of a single mother in our society, especially in backward areas. Amid all that she manages everything with dignity and strength. She also supports her daughter-in-law when her son leaves her behind to work in town and falls in love with another girl. She fights for her right not caring about society or her own son. So yes I’m loving the character as I see myself in it. Like her, I also have similar values and strength,” she says how much she connects to her onscreen avatar. Yash Patnaik and Mamta Patnaik's Gauna (1)
Namrata expects the best from the show. “I feel that the show is going to rock because of the beautiful story and the characters it has. The viewers are going to get their daily dose of entertainment,” she adds.
This is the first time she is working with Yash and Mamta’s team. “I am working with them for the first time and haven't got any chance to speak to them.  But yes I have heard that they are nice people to work with. So here’s hoping for the best,” she shares.
The TV industry has evolved over the years. About the changes she has seen in the industry, “Yes, the TV industry has evolved over the years and it's no more only about the drama, which viewers used to accept before. Now TV also has started highlighting the realities of life making it more relatable to the public. People do not support shows they find unreal anymore. So of course, producers, channels and the whole team have taken it as a challenge and started working more responsibly.”

OTT has given competition to TV. Agreeing, she adds, “First of all you can watch the programmes available on OTT whenever and wherever you want. It has given that comfort to the viewers. The content available on OTT is more powerful and vast as you can see world cinema over there. It's cost-effective too. Also there is no censorship.
Coming back to work, Namrata is happy with how her career is progressing. “I chill with my friends and family after the hard days at work. I do go to peaceful and beautiful places with my daughter,” she says.
