With a strong belief in cinema that has powerful stories and themes that are at once unique and relevant, Yoodlee Films has been leading from the front in creating meaningful and impactful cinema for audiences. Their recent film Hamid -  the Kashmir based poignant drama between a 8 year old boy and roughened and war-embittered CRPF jawan, starring Rasika Dugal, Vikas Kumar and Talha Arshad Reshi in pivotal roles, has impressed audiences and critics both internationally and in India. Now, adding another feather to their crowded awards cap, the critics at the UK Asian Film Festival have awarded the film two of their most coveted awards - Best Actor for Rasika Duggal and Best Film recently.

Having completed 21 editions, the UK Asian Film Festival houses some of the most eclectic films and brings to the fore true talent and the very best in films. Almost part of the annual calendar of the India film fraternity now, the festival provides a platform to upcoming talent and is an international showcase of new and superlative content. Apart from Hamid, Yoodlee Films’ forthcoming Tamil film KD, directed by Madhumita Sundararaman also bagged the Best Director award.

Director of Hamid, Aijaz Khan, commented, “When we were making Hamid, we knew we wanted to bring a story that moves audiences all over. The Best Film Award at this prestigious festival is a testament to the power of a good compelling story. I was backed by an immensely supportive team at Yoodlee Films and a powerhouse of a talented cast.  Congratulations to all of us!”

Lead actor Rasika Dugal, said, “I am delighted that Hamid has been recognized at the UK Asian Film Festival.  I belive that 'Hamid' can be the gentle conversation we need to have today. It is a human story about a conflict situation- a story about love, loss and humanity that we often forget to tell.

It is an honour for me to receive the Best Actor award for the film. My character 'Ishrat' embodies the grief, loss and despair that women in conflict situations  are forced to brave with unimaginable resilience and strength. I hope that through Ishrat and Hamids story we are able to point at the futility of conflict.”

Siddharth Anand Kumar, VP Films and TV Saregama India and Producer at Yoodlee Films added, “It has been a tremendous start to 2019 for us at Yoodlee Films. Hamid and KD are both very special films and we are excited to see that audiences around the world have appreciated the films and our vision. Aijaz and Madhumita have put their heart and soul into constructing tales of strength and hope in the most unlikeliest of circumstances, to give us a cinema that resonates all across. Rasika’s talent is immense and the sensitivity she brought in into the character she played in Hamid spoke beyond words. Truly heartening that we have won these accolades at the UK Asian Film Festival.  Watch out for more such exciting and differentiated content from the Yoodlee stable in the coming months.

Released on 15th March, Hamid has garnered praises galore from within the industry, audiences, and critics alike. Madhumita’s Tamil film KD is looking for a theatrical release in the month of June 2019.
