YUSUF KHAN( DILIP KUMAR) NE USS KABRISTAN KO DUNIYA KA SABSE SHANDAAR KABRISTAN BANA DIYA

I have been passing through the juhu Kabristan for as many years as I can remember , but yesterday evening when I looked into the Kabristan, I saw the grave of Mohamad Yusuf Khan (Dilip Kumar) and I don't know why in the grave covered with a few red roses and some white flowers I could see the grave as a holy book which was wanting and waiting to be read by people to know the truth about life and death .

I kept looking at the grave and I could almost feel as if the great Dilip Kumar was speaking to me and telling me how life was just like a Kashti which floats in a river till khudah or destiny wants it to .

And the kashti has to keep floating and sometimes even drifting through the good tides and the bad tides and when the time of the Kashti is over in the river, the greatest, the most intelligent, the most holy and even the most godly have to stop their journey and land in a " house dug into the ground less than six feet deep and even less these days when it is difficult to find space even for a grave .

I was still listening to the legend who they called a living legend till he was here and kepting alive and I don't know or I m entirely ignorant about what they called a legend who is finally resting in his little house after living a hectic , honorable and exciting life .

And as I kept looking at that book which was the grave in which a Shahenshah was living a new life , I looked around and thought of all the other Graves were some of the leading celebrities of the flim world and the literary legend were laid to rest in peace . Do the dead really rest in peace and do they really go to heaven or hell from their Graves?

To think of it, the family of Yusuf Khan has been buried in this kabristan. His younger brother Nasir Khan who had played his younger brother in "Ganga Jamuna" was the first to be laid to rest year .

Years later, his wife , Saira Banu's grandmother Shamshad Begum, a singer of the 40's was laid to rest here and she was followed by her beautiful daughter Naseem Banu who was followed by her daughter in law, Raahat and the procession indeed or seemed to end when Saira 's brother , Sultan also found his resting place here in this old juhu kabristan.

The funerals of all these family members was managed and supervise by Dilip Kumar. During the covid, Dilip Kumar lost two of his younger brothers, Aslam Khan and Ahsan Khan, deaths of which Dilip Kumar knew nothing about and all the funeral arrangements were made by Saira Banu , who was already looking after every little detail of her husband health.

One of the first celebrities to be buried in this kabristan was the "Goddess of beauty " , Madhubala and her family together with Kishore Kumar her husband had erected a beautiful memorial for her .

The first funeral I attended at this kabristan was the funeral of my guru K A Abbas and at a young age I wandered why a man like Abbas had to be buried in a remote corner of the kabristan, but I reliase that Abbas being a true socialist had made a wish that he should be buried in a kind of grave were very poor and
common men and women were buried.

The other time I was at this Kabarstan was when the eternal lyricist and noted urdu poet , Sahir Ludhiandi died and was buried in the area of the kabristan were the most common people were buried .

The other great man I saw being buried in this kabarstan was the Maestro Naushad Ali . And somewhere closed to his grave was the grave of the poet and lyricist Majrooh Sultan Puri.

There may be others , but I have tried my best to remember all those who were laid to rest in this kabristan which is only a kilometer away from the Hindu crematorium where many from the industry have got there bodies to go up in frames.

another few kilometers away is the chaar Bangla kabristan were men like Kaifi Azmi, his wife Shauqat Azmi , Khaiyyam and Farooq Sheikh among others have there homes which they took charge of after leaving this world.

And in one other place called Oshiwara is a kabarstan and an electric crematorium were names like Prakash Mehra the actress Sadhna and Dinesh Thakur among others have taken their places after they have been ask to rest in peace .

And in Versova sleeps Irrfan Khan who was given a raw deal in life and had to quit because of the orders of his khudah and may be his destiny.

In the same Kabristan is a young resident who was all set to be launched as an actor by his father Marukh Mirza , but who died in a tragic bike accident just a day before he could be launch by his father.

I have , believe it or not spent one whole night at the Versova kabristan where I met an old father who told me that he was waiting for his daughter, Rasheeda to wake up and go back with him and get married to the boy he wanted her to marry .

These are stories that may disturb you and call me a mentally disturb man , but I am a man who has faced an fought more mentally disturb cases than those may call me mentally disturb.

That is how I have lived life as that is how I have learn to face death which I believe is just another side of life .

And I believe what Dev Anand said about death when he told me , " why are people so scared about death ?

Why don't they think and believe that life could be much better when we cross the bridge of life and reach the other side of life ? "
