Talking about the preparations for the film, Prithviraj Sukumaran says, "The journey started in 2009, which was the time when Mr. Blessy got the rights to this wonderful book that was based on real life. One day Mr. Blessy called me and said "I would like to meet you." In 2009 as it is even today in the Malayalam Film industry when Director Blessy calls you, you pick up your phone. Because he is much like back then and even today he is one of the most committed filmmakers that our industry has. And for us actors in Malayalam, a Blessy is all we want to do at least once in our life. So, if we go back to 2009 then I am the young actor who is trying to come to terms with "What I am' and trying to discover myself as an actor. The Blessy calls me and says he is doing this dream film which is the ultimate mission for his directorial career. And he wants me to play the lead hero. That's when our journey started.”
