WHEN PRODUCT PLACEMENT PLAY AN IMPORTANT PART IN THE SCRIPT OF BOLLYWOOD MOVIES

What is different about watching a movie on our TV set and in a theatre? Apart from the size of the screens, breaks and advertisements in between are one thing which creates a difference, right? We think movie theatres don’t disrupt our viewing experience to show commercials but not exactly. Product placed into movies is a very old way to promote any product or brand. As it's easier to sell a viewer on the value of a product if they're emotionally invested in the storyline in which it's presented, rather than a viewer who's watching an ad totally out of context. Plus in this digital age, it's far too easy to skip ads and zone out during ads anyway. As the budget of movies is getting more and more expensive, product placement is making more and more spaces in the stories of movies. For brands, movies are the best way to promote their product in a very subtle and efficient way. But the most annoying thing is when different products placed in almost every single frame of a movie in order to promote a lot of products.

The latest example is Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Veere Di Wedding, from the song Tareefan to their wedding decoration in the film or to the veeres chat while eating snacks of different brands, The film is promoting different brands that at one point it feels like a two-hour long advertisement more than a film.

And there are many other such  Bollywood movies and here is the complete list.
