Walt Disney Studios recently wowed attendees at the 2024 CinemaCon® convention in Las Vegas. On this occasion, Walt Disney Studio presented the cast of its upcoming films to be released in theatres, which includes films from some of its most famous production studios: Disney Live Action, Marvel Studios, Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures.

Disney Co-Chair Talks Theatrical Movies & Upcoming Releases

Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman took the stage at the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace to talk about the power of the theatrical movie experience and the upcoming influx of extraordinary cinematic events that Disney will bring to theaters in the coming months. Then executive vice president and head of theatrical distribution Tony Chambers took the mic.

Tony Chambers, thanking members of the exhibition trade industry in attendance, showed 13 minutes of thrilling footage from 20th Century Studios' much-anticipated action-adventure “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.” The film will be released in theaters on May 10 in English and Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global epic franchise set several generations in the future after the reign of Caesar, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously, and humans are reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, a young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question everything he knows about the past and make choices that will be devastating for apes and humans alike. Will define the future in this way.

After this, Disney's film "Young Woman and the Sea" will be screened on May 31. The film tells the extraordinary true story of Trudy Adderley, the first woman to successfully cross the English Channel. Famed producer Jerry Bruckheimer unveiled a new trailer for the film, which stars Daisy Ridley as an accomplished swimmer born to immigrant parents in 1905 in New York City. Through the steadfast support of his elder sister and assistant coaches, he overcame adversity and hostility. Rise through the ranks of the Olympic swim team and accomplish a staggering feat – traveling 21 miles from France to England. CinemaCon attendees were the first to see the trailer of the film.

Tony Chambers then welcomed Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Amy Poehler to the stage. Poehler returns to theaters as the voice of Joey in Disney and Pixar's "Inside Out 2." He is also going to be honored with this year's 'CinemaCon Vanguard Award' at the 'Big Screen Achievement Awards Ceremony'. "Just as teenager Riley's newly built headquarters is suddenly forced to face demolition to make room for something completely unexpected," Poehler said of Inside Out 2, which hits theaters June 14. Tony Chambers then called Marvel Studios producer and President Kevin Feige on stage to talk about two highly anticipated upcoming films. Kevin Feige talked about Marvel Studios' film 'Captain America: Brave New World' Called Captain Anthony Mackie to do so.

Giving information about the film 'Captain America: Brave New World', which will be released in theaters on February 14, 2025, he said - "It is directed by Julius Ona, while Feige and Nate Moore are its producers. The film is executive produced by Lewis D'Esposito, Charles Newirth, and Mackie. The film "Captain America: Brave New World" stars Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, and Shira Haas in important roles along with Tim Blake Nelson and Harrison Ford.

After this, Feige talked about Marvel Studios' film "Deadpool and Wolverine" and introduced the film's director Shawn Levy. The filmmaker, who received CinemaCon's Director of the Year award at the Big Screen Achievement Awards ceremony, thrilled audiences with an exclusive look at the film, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams Karan Sony and Matthew Macfadyen. Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, and Lauren Shuler Donner serve as executive producers along with Louis D'Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, and Simon Kinberg. “Deadpool & Wolverine” is written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick Zeb Wells, and Shawn Levy. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine' will be released in theaters on July 26 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Tony Chambers then had a special welcome from producer Ridley Scott and director and writer Fede Alvarez of "Alien: Romulus," which opens August 16 and reflected on their 45-year partnership and the legacy of the "Alien" franchise. Thanked exhibitors for their support and offered an exclusive look. 20th Century Studios' “Alien: Romulus” takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: exploring the deep ends of an abandoned space station, a group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying creature in the universe face to face with life.

Next up last month was Searchlight Pictures, winner of four Academy Awards® and celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, with the recent release of “Poor Things.” And now on June 21, “Kinds of Kindness” will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, the film stars recent Oscar winner Emma Stone. The film's other cast also includes Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer. The film is a triptych story that follows a man with no options who tries to take control of his life. A policeman who is worried that his wife, who was missing at sea, has returned and appears to be a different person.

The attendees were then shown footage from Twentieth Century Studios' film "The Amateur" for the first time. The action-packed spy thriller is directed by James Hawes and stars Oscar winner Rami Malek, Rachel Brosnahan, Caitriona Balfe, Michael Stuhlbarg, Holt McCallany, Julianne Nicholson, Adrian Martinez, and Laurence Fishburne, arriving in theaters April 11, 2025.

Oscar® winner Barry Jenkins then took the stage to talk about Disney's December 20 release of “Mufasa: The Lion King,” the follow-up to the 2019 global phenomenon, and the film's teaser trailer. In flashback, “Mufasa: The Lion King” reveals the rise of one of the Pride Lands’ greatest kings as Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa share Mufasa’s story with a young lion cub. The film is produced by Adele Romanski and Mark Seryak and executive produced by Peter Tobyansen.

The studio closed out the presentation with a surprise appearance by Dwayne Johnson, who came onto a stage filled with Polynesian drummers and dancers from Tiana Liufou's Nonsina (Liufou is the choreographer of the “Moana” films). Johnson returns as the voice of Maui in Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Moana 2," opening in theaters Nov. 27.

Bergman came on stage to introduce NATO Chairman Bob Bagby, who presented Johnson with the NATO Spirit of the Industry Award.

“Moana 2” reunites Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) and Maui three years later for an expansive new journey with a crew of unlikely sailors. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayward ancestors, Moana must travel to the distant seas and dangerous, long-lost waters of Oceania on an adventure she has never encountered before. Directed by Dave Derrick Jr., co-directed by Jason Hand, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvette Marino, the epic animated musical stars GRAMMY® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Beare, GRAMMY nominee Opethia Foy and three-time Musical GRAMMY winner Mark Mancina.
