New Update
I was seven when my father died and it took me a long time to know what death was . And when knew what death was, the first thing I realised was that I had not touched my dead father's feet which was a custom followed in the slum I lived in Ali Peter John
I couldn't touch my mother's feet as I was asked to kiss her forehead and not her feet . I wanted to touch the feet of the only guru I had , Mr K A Abbas, but I was too drunk to even go close to his limp body .
The one man whose feet I touched with all the respect and reverence was Dr Ramanand Sagar
I kept kissing and touching the clay and stone made gods and goddesses for years in the hope that they would listen to my prayers , but they rarely answered my prayers.
But the one man whose feet I touched with all the respect and reverence was Dr Ramanand Sagar.
I have not touched the feet of anyone else after that morning when his body was lying in the courtyard of Sagar Villa.
I have had what can only be called a Kaarmic connection with the Sagar family.
I have known all the sons of Dr Sagar , Subhash, Shanti, Anand , Moti and I have known Prem better than all of them and our friendship goes down more than 40 years.
"I have known Prem as a brilliant cinematographer, a poet and painter by heart"
I have known Prem as a brilliant cinematographer, a poet and painter by heart , a spiritualy inclined soul who can also be practical when challenged by the circumstances around him.
He has defied death to live a life full of blessings . And the best blessings he has received are his wife , Neelam and his children , Shabnam, Shiv and Ganga.
And what is like a miracle is how the talent of Prem has flown into Neelam who is a gifted painter , to his daughter Shabnam who is one of the best interior designer around and Ganga who is known as a painter.
who has excelled in her work and Shiv who has been trained in the hospitality business in the best school in the world and who now runs a resort called " Tooth Mountain" in Karjat which is on the way to the hill stations, Lonavala, Khandala and Mahabaleswer .
(As I write this I get the goose bumps as I have seen all the three when they were in their cradles)
The video of Prem's recreation of Vir's short story is introduced by Neelam Sagar and Prem Sagar
And now comes another miracle in my friend , Prem's life . His grandson Vir, the son of Shabnam and Puneesh is showing the first sparks of talent and creativity when he is only 13 years old .....
Vir wrote a short story some time in October 2020 . The story titled "The After Life" was read by Prem and Neelam and they were not only happy , but Prem decided to give the story the touch of a true Sagar and has now conceived and presented the story in the only way he could , with all his love and care for his grandson's just born talent .
The video of Prem's recreation of Vir's short story is introduced by Neelam and has the story told in Prem's voice .
It is very important that many other parents and grandparents see this creative effort made by a family because it is only such efforts that can lead to better families , a better society and country and a better world .
