Yash johar was one of the leading personality of the industry who was known for not only making films like Dostana, duniya and Agneepath, but was also a well known production controller who looked after the production of films made by men like Devanand , Sunil Dutt and even several hollywood companies - ALI PETER JOHN

Karan Johar was his only son who showed his passion for films right from the time he was a child.

Yash wanted karan to learn all his lessons about making films from working with directors who were good at their jobs.

It was Aditya Chopra who was a childhood friend of Karan who gave him a break as an actor and who also took him on as one of his assistant directors .

They made DDLJ together and history knows what a big hit the film turned out to be and still is.

It was during the making of DDLJ that Karan told Aditya about a script he had written and which he wanted to direct himself.

Time passed and Karan and Shahrukh became the best of friends. It was during one of the many meetings they had that Karan narrated his script to Shahrukh who liked it very much and he didn't say anything to Karan at that time. It was like a case of Apna bhi time aaega for Karan.

Yash was looking for a subject to make his next film and when he found the script he felt the only actor who could justice to it was Shahrukh.

Yash who together with Yash chopra had helped Shahrukh in buying the place where Mannat now stands approaced Shahrukh and asked him to do a film for his banner, Dharma productions...

And Shahrukh found his opportunity to help his friend karan. He told Yash Johar that he would do his film only of Karan Johar directed.

Yash Johar had no option. He accepted Shahrukh's condition. Karan directed his first film kuch kuch hota hai and the rest is what time is witnessed to.
