Every year on July 7th, devotees from around the world commemorate the birth anniversary of Nirmal Singh Maharaj (1952–2007), lovingly referred to as 'Guruji', with deep devotion and love. This day marks not just the birth of a spiritual guide, but a celebration of the divine presence that awakened faith, love, and spiritual awareness in the lives of many. Guruji taught unity among religions, service to humanity, and a balance between materialism and spirituality. In his darbar (spiritual court), there was no discrimination—rich or poor, high or low, Hindu or Muslim—everyone was equal in his presence.

Devotees know Guruji by many names—“Dugri Wale Guruji,” “Chattarpur Wale Guruji,” “Shukrana Guruji,” and “Nirmal Singhji Maharaj.” Rather than binding himself to any particular religion or sect, Guruji embraced humanity, compassion, and love as his true path. His message was: “Humanity is above religion, and there is nothing above humanity.” Guruji never appointed a successor. His clear message was—"No intermediary is needed for divine light; devotees should connect with me directly—through prayer and meditation."

Guruji’s main temple is located in Bhatti Mines, Chattarpur, Delhi, commonly referred to as the "Bada Mandir" (Grand Temple). Every Sunday, a special community satsang (spiritual gathering) is held there. On his birth anniversary, special celebrations are organized at the Shukrana Guruji Darbar in Delhi, where continuous kirtan and devotional music programs are held from 10 AM to 11 PM. This day becomes a spiritual festival for devotees, filled with meditation, bhajans, and remembrance of the Guru.

Musical Offerings of Devotion

On this year’s special occasion, singer Jasleen Kaur launched a new album titled Anamdin Guruji Da, writing: “Please bless this bhajan with your love and support. Guruji, may you mark my attendance and grant me a place at your holy feet. Shukrana Guruji!”

Singer Sonia Arora also presented a heartfelt bhajan titled Guruji Da Janamdin in Guruji’s honor.
