Diljit-Hania Controversy: After the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 Indian citizens lost their lives, the Indian government took a tough stand and imposed a complete ban on Pakistani artists and their social media handles. Under this ban, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media accounts of big Pakistani artists like Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Mawra Hocane, Fawad Khan, and Atif Aslam were also blocked for Indian users.
Mawra Hocane and Saba Qamar's accounts are now visible in India
However, now reports are coming out that this ban has been relaxed to some extent. On July 2, 2025, many Indian Instagram users reported that they were able to view the Instagram profiles of Mawra Hocane and Saba Qamar again. The news quickly went viral on social media, and many users shared screenshots of it on Twitter (formerly Twitter). One user shared a screenshot of Mawra's Instagram story and wrote, "Am I the only one who can see Mawra Hocane's account?" While another user wrote, "Instagrams of some Pakistani artists are now accessible in India, such as Yumna Zaidi, Ahad Raza Mir, Dananeer Mobeen, and Mawra Hocane."
YouTube channels have also become accessible (Pakistani TV Channel in India)
Not only this, users reported that major Pakistani YouTube channels like Hum TV, ARY Digital, and Har Pal Geo have also started working again in India. However, the accounts of other popular Pakistani artists like Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Fawad Khan and Atif Aslam are still blocked in India.
Question raised on Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir's film
Meanwhile, people on social media are also discussing Diljit Dosanjh's film 'Sardarji 3', in which Pakistani actress Hania Aamir is seen. The film has not been released in India, but it is getting a tremendous response abroad. People are sharing screenshots on Reddit and X, saying, "And people were cursing Diljit." A user curiously asked, "Does this mean that Diljit and Hania's film will be released in India?" Although no official statement has come from the Indian government yet, the reavailability of Pakistani artists' accounts on social media may be a sign of a possible change. At the same time, Diljit Dosanjh's film and the controversy related to it have also heated up again. It remains to be seen whether these changes will be permanent or are just the result of technical glitches.
