One of his most iconic performances was the lip-syncing of the popular song "Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon" from the film "Patanga" (1949). The song, originally sung by C. Ramchandra for Gope and Shamshad Begum for Nigar Sultana, became synonymous with Gope's comedic brilliance.
