The plot revolves around the Nangla Project, a government-funded expedition searching for a legendary temple made of gold in the Himalayas. Professor Harbanslal (A.K. Hangal), entrusted with the project, becomes the target of a ruthless criminal, Vikram Singh (Ajit), and his son Bahadur (Prem Chopra). When their attempts to coerce the professor fail, they resort to kidnapping the family of millionaire Rajendra Jain (Sajjan).

Enter the enigmatic Natwarlal (Dev Anand), a charming rogue who throws a wrench into the meticulously planned abduction. Further complicating matters is Jimmy Fernandes (Vijay Anand himself), another mysterious figure with his motives. Ritu (Hema Malini), Rajendra's daughter, finds herself caught in the middle of this web of deceit, unsure who to trust.
