These days, political activity is very intense in the entire country. Every political party keeps raising issues in its own way, but it cannot be predicted when which party will take hold of which party. Every political party wants the destruction of the other party. So the families associated with politics also have their enemies present within them. There is an internal battle for supremacy going on within every political party, which is sometimes realized and sometimes not. But Sanjay Amar has taken up the responsibility of presenting the story of a similar political family, Gajanan Chitre, in the Marathi language film ‘Lokshahi’. Filmmaker Sanjay Amar is originally from Kashmir and his assistant Manik Kaul is also from Kashmir. Whereas the film has been produced by Sushil Aggarwal of “Alta Media”. Dr. Mohan Agashe, Dr. Girish Oak, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Rajshree Pradhan, Ankit Mohan, Bhargavi Chirmule, Shantanu Moghe, and others have important roles in this film.
A Marathi film directed by a Kashmiri
The Marathi language political film 'Lokshahi' directed by Sanjay Amar was launched on January 30, 2024, at 'Red Bulb Studio' in Andheri, Mumbai in the presence of the film's cast, producers, and media personnel along with the music of Taylor. On this occasion, the film's director Sanjay Amar did not attend as he was busy shooting for his second film. The trailer and songs of the film won the hearts of the people present.
Not just a story about politics
After watching the trailer of the film ‘Lokshahi’ one realizes that even though this story is about politics and the political family of Gajanan Chitre (Dr. Mohan Agashe), it is also a story of family discord. There is a fierce battle for supremacy within the family. The desire of the founders, who lived under family rule, to gain power at any level can be seen in the trailer. Someone may die in this power struggle, but the mystery of who will kill whom will be revealed in the film. The combination of a mind-blowing storyline, serious and deep dialogues, a stellar cast, mesmerizing songs, and heart-stirring background music makes this democratic film the talk of the town in Maharashtra. After watching the trailer, when producer Sushil Aggarwal was asked whether this is the story of Maharashtra politics and the political family of Maharashtra, Sushil Aggarwal while avoiding saying anything clearly, said that this film is the story of political turmoil in the country. The rest will be known after watching the film.
Actor Mohan Agashe on the film
After the trailer launch, actor Mohan Agashe, who plays the character of Gajanan Chitre in the film, said, “The process of making the film was very fun. I am very excited about the release of this film. The working style of the film's director Sanjay Amar was amazing. When he came to me, he told me that I had three days' work and the film would be completed in five to six days. I thought he was saying this to involve me with his film, once I start working, I will have to complete the film. But the amazing thing is that he worked like this. On set, he filmed every scene every day with four camera setups. We enjoyed working because not only did the characters and the story work well, but we also got the opportunity to work with actors with whom I was already familiar. The director does not know the Marathi language, he is from Kashmir, but he has made this amazing Marathi film.
Dr. Mohan Agashe further said, “The subject of this film is not new to me. I went to the cinema many years ago. Some time ago, a series called 'Ram Bazaar' was done. But every time the acting is done keep in mind what is the time and who are the political actors of that time. On this basis, it would not be right to discuss the complexity of this film today, for this, you all will have to watch the film.
Most of the actors associated with the film remained absent on this occasion. On this, Dr. Mohan Agashe said, “The artists who did not come are very busy. But the truth is also that today's new generation of artists are trying to achieve maximum popularity by doing less work. But the artists who did not come today are doing good work and are busy. Secondly, nowadays the virtual world has grown so much that every person can't keep pace with it. For this, it is necessary to have the support of the new generation. At least I try to stay close to the new generation artists.”
Actor Rajshree Pradhan on the film
On this occasion, actress Rajshree Pradhan, who played the character of Iravati Chitre in the film, said, “This is a very different kind of character. I had never played a character like this before. This is the character of a politician. In reality, Iravati is working on the instructions of her mother. She is not interested in politics, she only wants to do social service. Meaning, Iravati is a girl who stays away from politics from her parents' home. But an accident happens in his life, due to which he has to join politics. I can't tell more than this right now."
A film with great music
Music director Sanjay Rajalakshmee is originally from South India. Sadly, Sanjay died on 28 August 2023, but his wife and musician and singer Rajalakshmee was present on this occasion. Rajalakshmee serenaded the guests present by singing the song 'Sakhya Re' from the film in her melodious voice, while singer Jaideep Bagwadkar won the hearts of the audience by singing the energetic song 'O Bhau'.
Over the past forty years, Ultra Media & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd has been at the forefront of Indian cinema, adopting changing technologies from CD-DVD to OTT. Sushil Kumar Aggarwal, CEO, of Ultra Media & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, further said, “Lokshahi is a powerful political film that reflects the anarchy of politics and points the finger at the dynastic system.”
