Remembering Mohra: the multi-starrer on its 30th release anniversary

The film released in 1994, in the Hindi language is an action thriller, co-written, edited, and directed by Rajiv Rai and produced by his father Gulshan Rai. The film consists of an astonishing star cast such as; Naseeruddin Shah, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Raza Murad, Gulshan Grover, Paresh Rawal, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

This film was reportedly the first collaboration between the trio of Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal, who went on to several more collaborations during their career later on. This movie went on to become the second-highest-grossing Indian film of the year!
Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast………

This song was pictured on Raveena Tandon, who wasn’t the original choice for the film, however, the unfortunate death of Divya Bharti made her the Female Lead for this action thriller. She got the nickname of “the Mast Mast Girl” due to this song.

The song was an adaptation of an oh-so-popular Qawwali song; Dam Mast Qalandar Mast Mast, by the Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
The soundtrack album sold more than 8 million units, making it the second highest-selling Bollywood Soundtrack album of 1994, only behind Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!

On the 40th Filmfare Awards, this film won in the category for Best Choreography- Chinni Prakash for ‘Tu Cheez Badi hai Mast Mast’. It received nine Filmfare Nominations for;
Best Film – Gulshan Rai, Best Director – Rajiv Rai

Best Comedian – Paresh Rawal
Best Villain – Naseeruddin Shah
Best Music Director – Viju Shah
Best Lyricist – Anand Bakshi for "Tu Cheez Badi Hai"
Best Male Playback Singer – Udit Narayan for "Tu Cheez Badi Hai"

Best Female Playback Singer – Kavita Krishnamurthy for "Tu Cheez Badi Hai"

The film was reported to be inspired by the 1987 Hollywood film; Death Wish 4: The Crackdown, while the climax was inspired by the 1992 Hong Kong film, Hard Boiled, allegedly.
