In a heartfelt celebration of the 95th birth anniversary of legendary lyricist Anand Bakshi, a grand musical evening and book launch ceremony were organised under the joint auspices of Advik Publications and Kiyaan Foundation. The event was a tribute to the timeless legacy of a man whose nearly 4,000 songs continue to resonate across generations — each one a superhit, each one immortal.
On this special occasion, two collector’s edition books authored by Sangeeta Bijith — “Life Through the Lens of Lyrics” and “Zindagi Ke Safar Mein Anand Bakshi Ke Geet” — were formally launched. Both books are being hailed as literary treasures for music lovers and readers alike.
An emotional highlight of the evening came when Sangeeta Bijith expressed her gratitude, saying: “This is an extraordinary moment in my life. It is my first literary endeavour, and I am deeply thankful to all the dignitaries present. I was born for music, and Bakshi Sahab was born for its soul — the lyrics.”
The event was further enriched by the presence of renowned authors, artists, music enthusiasts, and distinguished cultural figures from across the country.
One of the most touching moments of the evening came when Mr. Rakesh Bakshi, son of Anand Bakshi, shared personal anecdotes and memories of his father. His sincerity, eloquence, and deep reverence for his father brought tears to many eyes and added an unforgettable emotional depth to the atmosphere.
Another highlight of the evening was the special felicitation of acclaimed author, cartoonist, and film director Dr. Harvinder Maankad, honoured for his multifaceted creative contributions to literature, cinema, and social service. His artistic excellence and commitment to meaningful storytelling were deeply appreciated by all present.
The evening sparkled further with the esteemed presence of Dr. Shalini Agam, Ms. Lakshmi Shankar Vajpeyi, Ravi Yadav, Dr. Sunita, journalist Mr. Sardana, Subhash Chandra, and several other celebrated women writers and thinkers. Their collective energy and literary brilliance transformed the event into a truly magnificent gathering — a rare confluence of words, music, and soul.
On this occasion, Mr. Ashok Gupta, founder and visionary behind Advik Publications, remarked: “Books are my life. Bringing quality literature to the forefront is my responsibility, and giving deserving voices their platform is part of Kiyaan Foundation’s social commitment.”
His vision and tireless effort made this historic evening possible, one that will be remembered in the cultural and literary world for years to come.
More than just an event, “An Evening in the Name of Anand Bakshi” was a living tribute — a celebration of legacy, language, and the lyrical soul of India.
