Young Bollywood star Bhumi Pednekar is not only a talented actress but also an ardent supporter of the environment and animal welfare. She also started a foundation last year, Bhoomi Foundation, a non-profit advocacy platform that works at the national level to tackle environment-related issues.
Bhoomi's New Project: Providing Heat Relief for Animals in Need
Bhoomi is now working on a new noble project to provide relief to animals from the scorching heat! Bhumi is concerned about how birds and animals are finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the ongoing heat and how often they struggle to access water and suffer from heatstroke, dehydration, and fever, which often leads to loss of brain cells and Extensive damage to vital organs occurs, leading to seizures, coma, and even death.
Through the Bhumi Foundation, Bhumi has been setting up several water bowls in Mumbai to help animals in need. These bowls will serve as an essential source of hydration for birds and animals struggling to find water and can also be a place where they can cool off!
Bhumi says, “While we may talk about our troubles during the summer, innocent creatures suffer silently. I think it is important that we understand their plight and take care of the animals and birds around us. Regular access to clean water prevents dehydration, reducing the risk of stroke and other health problems. This simple provision supports their well-being in a challenging environment.
She urges everyone to connect water sources in their society or neighborhood. Bhoomi further adds, “It is important that each one of us takes the responsibility of providing support to birds and stray animals in our areas. If we all together add water sources to our society and neighborhood – it will help them a lot. It can be a simple DIY container for birds and animals outside your balcony or society gate so that they can access them."
Bhumi, along with her team and a few volunteers, will install water bowls in her area and has organized volunteers to do the same across the city. She also spoke to those working in his neighborhood and requested them to refill the wells if required.
