In Mumbai, Bollywood singer Zubeen Garg, who rose to fame with the song “Ya Ali” from the film Gangster: A Love Story, was honored at a prayer meet by Bollywood actress Hema Sharma, Bigg Boss fame Yamini Malhotra, and Bobby Darling. The attendees appeared deeply saddened during the event.
Hema Sharma Speaks
Actress Hema Sharma paid her respects to Zubeen, saying, “I believe that the life we get is meant to end for everyone. This is the harsh reality of life. But before leaving, why not dedicate your position, your profession, and your talent to the country and the people? Zubeen was immortal in life, and even after his passing, he remains immortal in our hearts. I salute him from the bottom of my heart and have taken inspiration from him in my own life. I am also an artist, and I will continue to serve the public in any way I can.”
Yamini Malhotra Expresses Shock
Bigg Boss fame actress Yamini Malhotra shared her feelings, saying, “Zubeen Ji is no longer with us. His passing was extremely shocking. Earlier, the passing of KK Ji was also a shock. I have been a fan of his. When I heard the news of Zubeen Ji’s death, tears came to my eyes. It was truly very sad.”
Bobby Darling’s Tribute
At the prayer meet, Bobby Darling expressed, “It’s heartbreaking that he is no longer with us. But the massive crowd that came to show their love for him shows how much good he did for people during his lifetime. He earned immense merit. He is immortal.”
Zubeen Garg passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 52, in a scuba diving accident in Singapore. He had gone there to perform at the North East India Festival. Despite efforts to save him, he was declared dead at the hospital.
Zubeen’s Career
Born in 1972 in Meghalaya, Zubeen Borah Thakur, popularly known as Zubeen Garg, was a leading singer in the Assamese music industry. In the 1990s, he adopted his clan name “Garg” as his stage name.
Zubeen gained national recognition with the hit song “Ya Ali” from the film Gangster in 2006. Following this, he delivered several Bollywood hits, including “Subah Subah” and “Kya Raaz Hai”. He primarily worked in Assamese, Bengali, and Hindi cinema and music but also sang in over 40 languages and dialects. For many years, he was reportedly Assam’s highest-earning singer.
Zubeen Garg’s untimely demise is an irreparable loss for the music world. His songs, his voice, and his simplicity will continue to live on in the hearts of his fans.
