Bright Outdoor Media CMD Dr. Yogesh Lakhani Mourns P.K. Bajaj’s Demise, Says “A Golden Era Comes to an End”

Dr. Yogesh Lakhani, Founder and CMD of Bright Outdoor Media Limited, was deeply shocked upon hearing the news of the demise of Mayapuri magazine’s editor, the late Shri P. K. Bajaj (Pramod Kumar Bajaj). His friendship with the Bajaj family goes back nearly forty to fifty years.

Dr Yogesh Lakhani Gets Emotional Remembering Bajaj

Just as the Mayapuri family witnessed Dr. Yogesh Lakhani’s journey from the ground up to remarkable success, Dr. Lakhani also saw Mayapuri rise step by step to great heights. While speaking about the late and revered editor of Mayapuri, P. K. Bajaj, Dr. Lakhani became emotional. His voice choked and his eyes filled with tears.

He said, “My friendship with P. K. Bajaj Ji dates back to the time when I was a struggling young man, putting up small posters on the roadside on a tiny table space. Sometimes I would also get small assignments to design posters for low-budget films. It was during one such poster assignment that I met Mayapuri editor P. K. Bajaj Ji. He was such a kind-hearted person that he stopped to look at my work and spoke to me about my struggles in life.”

During those days, Mayapuri was gradually rising toward greater success. The friendship that began between them at that time lasted a lifetime. As Dr. Lakhani’s company, Bright Outdoor Media Limited, slowly reached great heights of success, P. K. Bajaj became a witness to his achievements.

Whenever Dr. Lakhani visited Delhi, he would inform Bajaj Ji. He recalls that Bajaj Ji was not only a capable editor but also an extremely warm and generous host. No matter how busy he was, he never left any stone unturned in welcoming him.

Dr. Lakhani also praised Shri Aman Kumar Bajaj, saying that he carries the same warmth and generosity as his father. Whenever Dr. Lakhani visited Delhi, P. K. Bajaj Ji and Aman Kumar Bajaj warmly hosted him. Likewise, whenever they came to Mumbai, they would never leave without meeting him.

For many years, advertisements of Bright Outdoor Media Limited and photographs from Dr. Lakhani’s events have been published in Mayapuri. Bajaj Ji never forgot to send birthday wishes to Dr. Lakhani, his wife Jagruti, and his son Anugrah, and every time detailed articles about these occasions appeared in Mayapuri. He also regularly arranged interviews with him through the magazine.

Dr. Lakhani shared that his son cannot feel at ease without reading Lotpot magazine and has been watching the Motu Patlu series on television and digital platforms since it became available.

Whenever Dr. Lakhani organized star-studded Star Night events, P. K. Bajaj Ji and Aman Kumar Bajaj often attended as special guests. At his request, they even came on stage, where Dr. Lakhani honored them. Over the years, Dr. Lakhani met Bajaj Ji thousands of times. He described him as a very humble person. Bajaj Ji appreciated Dr. Lakhani’s efforts to help poor children, the elderly, and the destitute. Bajaj Ji himself believed in helping those who were truly in need.

Dr. Lakhani said he has been a witness to the successful journey of Mayapuri and Lotpot. Since his teenage years, he has been reading both magazines. In those days, Mayapuri and Lotpot were available only in print, with a readership exceeding 35 million. Today, with time, both Mayapuri and Lotpot are also available digitally. Their Hindi and English websites are gaining immense popularity, and Mayapuri Cut videos are creating a huge buzz. In such a time, Bajaj Ji’s sudden departure is a great loss for the entertainment world. For his family, friends, and close associates, his passing is an irreplaceable loss that can never truly fade. Yet, no one can change the will of destiny.

Dr. Lakhani added, “Pure souls like P. K. Bajaj Ji are born very rarely. They show the right path to everyone and then quietly leave for their eternal journey, leaving all of us behind in grief. Perhaps even God needed him.”

He concluded with a prayer, “I pray to God to grant the departed soul a place at His divine feet and give all of us the strength to bear this loss.”
